We are loving our stay at Sandtown Farmhouse! Tom and Caroll Harper are excellent hosts and have thought of everything! Traveling with our two older teenagers, the upstairs rooms have been perfect for our family! A delicious breakfast each morning is the perfect way to end a great night's sleep. Will definitely be back!

We have stayed at Sandtown Farmhouse B&B many times and the experience is always great. This time we took 4 of our grandchildren. They also had a great time petting the sheep, feeding the ducks and chickens and helping gather eggs from under the chickens. It was cool outside, so the wood stove in the kitchen brought welcome warmth. We had a good time seeing the sights in the UP but the kids were always ready to head back to the B&B and animals. As usual the hospitality and food was wonderful.

Room Tip: Northern room has soaker tub and king size bed, American room has bubbler in soaker tub, and an extr...

Truly a perfect stay. We could not have been more happy with the charming farmhouse and excellent hosts. Our room was immaculate, spacious, and the perfect blend of quaint and contemporary. Carol is a delightful hostess (we were sorry we did not get to meet Tom). Almost everything at breakfast was "fresh from the farm" and absolutely delicious. Furthermore, Carol went out of her way to accommodate my dietary restrictions, which I am sure was not easy. I couldn't be more grateful. A lovely B&B experience--we hope to return soon!

We first stayed at Sandtown Farmhouse B&B about 10 yrs ago. We have made almost yearly visits there since in almost every season of the year. Tom & Carol treat their guests like family. We love the quiet peaceful setting and it's central location for sightseeing in the UP. If you like hummingbirds they usually have many during the summer, visiting their feeders on the large wrap around porch. We have stayed at many B & B's and this is by far our favorite. Sandtown Farmhouse B&B can't be beat for hospitality, yummy food, wonderful beds, and unique rooms. Highly recommend it to anyone traveling in the UP.

Room Tip: Great Northern room has king size bed with nice view of night sky out window. Red, white and blue r...

There is no downside. Period. Tom and Caroll think of everything. An old farmhouse, completely remodeled, with Wifi, a very comfortable bed and wonderful hosts. You will have to search for any dust or dirt here, and you still won't find any. Just make the call and make a reservation. The breakfast alone is worth the trip!

If a TV in your room is an absolute necessity, then don't stay here. If a TV in the living room, which feels like home, is good enough, then stay here. You can't NOT like it here. (Tom is a retired teacher. He may not appreciate the double negative. But he won't complain.)

Room Tip: If you sleep upstairs in the king room, you will smell a fabulous breakfast when you wake up.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Tom and Carol are the most gracious hosts you'd ever want to meet. They don't disappear once you arrive. They make you feel so at home. I was a solo traveler but they made me feel included as much as the families who stayed there. Very relaxing and the food was delicious. A little out of the way but very well worth it.

The Harper's are the most amazing hosts. This is not a typical B&B. You really feel like you are staying with family, which is why I don't recommend this for honeymooners. (I've never thought it very romantic to stay with your relatives for a honeymoon...) Tom and Caroll are part of your stay in every way - and that is why it is so awesome. My children LOVED this. Talk about yooper hospitality!

We met their 5 sheep and collected chicken eggs which we ate for breakfast. They taught us about their animals and Caroll taught my daughter how to spin wool. In the evening we roasted marshmallows and some of us walked their trail. The house is gorgeous, and there's even a room upstairs with antique kids toys and games. This is a GREAT place to take a family with young, well-behaved children. A homeschooler's dream-come-true...

Don't be fooled by the rural decor and antique look - the claw-footed tub in the stars & stripes room is a jacuzzi tub! A real treat for a retreat. We can't wait to visit again. They partner with a dog sledding company during the winter. Sign me up!

The location is very convenient. Coming from either side of Lake Michigan heading north, you'll probably pass through Engadine and it's 7 miles south of 23 - the main east west road in the UP. You're 1 hour from Munising, 40 minutes from Tahquamenon, 1 1/2 hours from St Ignace.
