Tons of unique things... I am all about supporting the local scene, anb there is 100% of it here. I've done Christmas shopping as well as stuff for myself. Ive been there a dozen times and there is always something new. Its not stagnant like some of those other markets in the area.

Its a great way to spend time on a lazy Sunday either alone or with friends.

Its a cool place to go on a Saturday or Sunday to find some interesting stuff, Pretty much a Flea market mixet with an Artsy Fartsy crowd. I have been there a few times, there is some cool Artsy stuff and some really bad Crappy stuff, ill let you decide... either way its a fun place to hang out.

The Rust Belt provides a real-world (vs online) venue for local artisans/creatives to display quite an array of wares. I had a blast looking at unique pieces in various mediums, talking to the vendors, and being generally inspired. Enjoy!

Spent a very pleasant Sunday afternoon in Ferndale this past weekend at the Rust Belt Market. Unique things to buy, great photos and clothes, lots of vintage stuff, and byond delicious Rock City Pies. Lunch at Rosie O'Grady's capped a great afternoon. Can't wait to go back! Everyone was very friendly and I loved the items being sold as they are quite different and interesting and reasonably priced.

If any state has felt the pain of the recession, it's Michigan. In the wake of the GM bailout, people realized that they needed to be more frugal than ever before; and, as history has proven, tough times often force people to be creative. Every weekend, the aptly named Rust Belt Market in Ferndale, Michigan brings together local artists and designers to present their wares. Modeled after the Williamsburg, Brooklyn Artists and Fleas Market, the Rust Belt features designers who use sustainable materials such as old license plates to create handbags and jewelry. Detroit GT, one of their featured vendors, encourages locals to express their pride with one of their unique t-shirts with hand drawn designs. The Rust Belt Market combines the artistic vibe of the outer boroughs of New York and Detroit's rich automotive heritage to bring a unique shopping experience to anyone living in or visiting Ferndale. The Rust Belt Market is open from 11am-7pm every Friday and Saturday. The live music list can be seen on their website, www.rustbeltmarket.com.
