Turkey meatloaf was delicious. Brisket was delicious. Hearty portions if locally grown organic food. Great local brews as well. Even the corn bread muffins are worth it.
It's pricey, but worth it For the quality of the food.

My only complaint is the wood burning stove that made my clothes smell like campfire.

Great location with outdoor seating for summer.

Since the new chef came in the food quality and standards have gone down and the prices up. I would not recommended wasting your time or money on this place.

The ambience and vibe was typical Ferndale. The inside was warm and inviting with lots of cute decor, fun lamps, and cute glassware, napkins, etc. However, the experience from the minute we walked in the door was mediocre. The hostess was annoyed to even be there. She told us the wait would be 40 minutes (it was10) and seemed bothered we decided to stay. The bartender was super helpful at the bar, but we barely had time to sit and drink our.....11.00 beers (yep....I said 11.00) before we were moved to a table. We wouldn't have even taken a seat at the bar if the wait time predicted had been sort of close.

Our waitress was friendly enough but when asked about some of the food, she was vague, which led me to think she had no idea what she was talking about. The food was cold and bland and one entree had to be sent back because after a 35 minute wait for food, it was ice cold. The butter on top wouldn't even melt. The desert of banana pudding was totally tasteless. One positive note was that the after dinner drinks were out of this world good.

Overall, perhaps a good place for apps and drinks or people watching. I'd get my entree some place else. It's too bad. There seems to be tremendous potential.

Our visit was OK. The atmosphere was nice. It was warm and inviting. They have a fireplace and cloth napkins (similar to kitchen towels). It was a casual, like you would find around your kitchen table at home, but busy.
The services was OK.
Sadly, the food was not good. It was not bad, but not good enough to bring us back. Which is sad because we live two blocks away and dine out often. (This was actually our second visit - we were hoping the first visit was just a bad night. That was not the case.)

The service was fine, the food however was disappointing, We ate there last night for the very first time. They said they had just implemented a a Brand New Menu, everything on it was brand new. Which tells me that,, something was wrong with the fist one,,, You don't erase and rewrite a plan for success, (that"s worked).
The Fried green tomatoes were tasteless, The other dish's name slips my memory, but,, it too was almost tasteless, the Duck was ok, but nothing to write about. The Corn muffins, were what you typically get in any restaurant that serves them and honestly tasted like Jiffy corn Muffin mix.
The atmosphere and local,, are wonderful,,, just very disappointing taste wise.
