“A great alternative to stay in Frankenmuth”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

Needed a stay on our way up north and like Frankenmuth, but wanted to be away from the Lodge. This hotel fills the bill! The evening reception was a nice surprise and the breakfast in the morning was small, but allowed us to get on the road without a restruant wait. We will go back.

Rooms were very nice and good size. All rooms have an outside balcony. Rooms in the back face the river and those in front face the Main Street on Frankenmuth. The hotel has a very nice oversize patio overlooking the river which is a plus on a very nice day. Breakfast is free in their lobby. Nice location for walking from one end of Main Street to the other.

Clean room, nice river view, close to most of the downtown shops.
There is only 1 elevator.
Parking is in the basement and you need a room-card to use the elevator.

The room was dedicated to a specific year of Marv Herzog's life (he was an accordion player)

Room Tip: select the river side

I have nothing bad to say and nothing hit me with a Wow. Just sort of okay. Easy to get to. Nice parking especially for bad weather. Room was clean and okay. It sort of reminded me of a "Dell Boca Vista early bird special" crowd if you get my drift. I don't think you'll be disappointed, but if you are wowed, I'll be surprised. Get it at a discount rate if you can.

The Marv Herzog hotel is a great place to stay right in the heart of downtown Frankenmuth MI. It is a small boutique hotel with less than 50 rooms. The rooms are always very clean and neatly kept. It's location is excellent as it is right next to the Frankenmuth Brewery, and a short walk to the shops. You want to reserve a room on the river side of the hotel. They also offer a Happy Hour where adults are given two free drinks daily.
The amenities in the rooms are standard and comfortable. The only issue that might arise is the lack of sufficient parking. The parking garage is under the hotel and is on the small, cramped side. Other than that, this is a great place to stay!

Stayed here on vacation last week... very nice oak furniture throughout the entire hotel, and quite comfy. The bed gave us sore backs, but that is the only complaint.

The beer and wine reception is only from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and we missed that unfortunately.

There are only 38 rooms at this hotel and you quickly see the same people over and over again.

VERY friendly staff, and unique atmosphere. With the polka music they play on the website, we expected the hotel to be playing it inside, but there was no music at all playing just some memorabilia on the walls of Marv Herzog.

Breakfast was very good and filling... the poor lady running it could not keep up with the rush of people, and every seat was taken. Food was very tasty.

The parking garage under the hotel is a bit tight (we were in a Suburban), but manageable. We had a view of the river with a balcony. Didn't get to enjoy it much as it was so chilly. Hearing the ducks quietly quacking at night was kind of relaxing.

Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Bronners CHRISTmas Wonderland is less than a three minute drive away, and you are in the heart of downtown Frankenmuth.

My family goes to Frankenmuth every year during the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Normally we stay in a hotel near the Outlet mall in Birch Run but we decided this year to try to stay downtown Frankenmuth. It's very difficult to find a hotel with vacancies during this weekend. I took a chance a couple of months ago and called The Marv and they still had some rooms available so we were able to reserve the 4 rooms we needed. It's in a great location and easy to walk everywhere from the hotel.

The staff were all very helpful and nice. I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews! From the lady I talked to on the phone to the front desk staff, all were very kind and helpful.

The balcony off the back of the hotel is fantastic and my daughter loved sitting out there on the rocking chairs watching the birds and boats go by on the river. My parents were there for 'happy hour' which was some drinks and snacks and they really enjoyed themselves and were able to relax before the rest of us arrived the next day. They said the breakfast was decent enough.

We had a room with 2 Queen size beds (one for us and one for my kid). The room was nice. We didn't need anything fancy. The beds were comfortable and it was very quiet. The best part was having a parking spot! No longer did we have to drive all over trying to find a place to park to walk downtown and to go for dinner at Zehnder's. The parking garage is decent size.

There is no pool or anything for kids but for just staying one night, we didn't need any of that. My kid was ready for bed by the time we got back to the hotel after a long day out and about.

We will definitely consider this hotel again when we choose to book our vacation next year. It was a real pleasure and it was a hotel that has a nice 'homey' atmosphere.

Room Tip: I think the rooms on the main level are less expensive. You may not have a great view of the river...
