Description: El Charro, owned and operated by the Martin family, is renown for consistently providing authentic, delicious Mexican cuisine & their famous tacos. El Charro has always been a Fraser community staple, with a beautiful decor and unique atmosphere, with original Mexican recipes derived from Delia’s parents, Consuelo and Rosalio Rendon. Great reviews and guest satisfaction have always been a priority for El Charros & the Martin family and have become pillars for their growth. Since its conception, George and Delia Martin and their young family, Ed, Jeff, Mark and Lynn, worked long hours to establish a thriving family oriented business they are very proud of. Following in the family tradition, the grandchildren also work at the restaurant, making it truly a family business. The original Fraser, Michigan location opened in 1971, with financial backing from George’s parents, George, Sr. and Lila Martin. It was then a small full service establishment with a seating capacity of just over 45 patrons. El Charro quickly began to grow & In 1978, the capacity doubled in sized to 90 seats. In 1980 a new 60-seat restaurant with a convenient drive-thru window opened in St. Clair Shores. By 1992, the original Fraser location, still not large enough to accommodate the growing crowds, led to the construction of a new 240-seat restaurant in downtown Fraser. Its third location in Macomb, with seating for 120 patrons, opened to quite the fanfare in 2004. El Charros newest location was established in Troy with a seating capacity of 96 and just celebrated its second year anniversary. The Martin family would like to thank you for your business and invites everyone to “Experience the Essence of Mexico” at El Charro.

We sat on their patio on a hot evening and enjoyed watching the birds at the waterfall. Great Margaritas - a nice selection to choose from. Only those and beer for alcohol tho.
Had a great chile relleno filled with ground beef which was so good it was hard to stop! I would definitely go there again!

Having lived in Arizona for 30 years I am very hard to please when it comes to eating great authentic Mexican food. El Charro in Fraser is just ok. If I had to choose one item I would wish to see improved it would be the salsa. There is just something missing. Reslly kind of bland.
It is also too pricey and they charge extra for sour cream which I think is completely ridiculous. When a restaurant charges extra for condiments they really aren't getting it.
Overall, it is just ok. We will go there in a pinch when a craving strikes but we are still searching for truly authentic Mexican cuisine.

True they are pricey but there is another place with the same good shells and taste and affordable too. Esplendido is on Mound road just south of 23 mile road. Every Tuesday is taco day and they are only $2.00 each what a savings I tell you. Enjoy I love this place all there food is good. Dailey specials pizza is great also try you won't be sorry. The key word is affordable especially with these times no money.

I've been Coming to El Charro for 30 years (back when it still sat in a strip plaza) and still love it. Their unique puffy tacos are to die for and the enchiladas are scruptious!

We really love the original El Charro in Fraser but since we moved it was a bit far to drive. Now we can get our favorite Mexican closer to home.
