“Showing its age, a good hotel but in need of freshening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 October 2007

Gaylord has just opened a new rail trail and we wanted to cycle through the fall colours. This hotel is conveniently located just off the freeway exit next to Wallmart and Bob Evans. The staff were very friendly and the interia of the rooms is good. Bathrooms are showing their age with marks in places. The beds are ok but certainly not up to the latest Hampton Inn standard - which I find to be very comfortable. The pool and hot tub were being redecorated when I was there so should be freshly reopened by mid October. The free hot breakfast isn't anything to look forward to - at least the eggs we tried seemed to be more closely associated with a rubber tree than a hen. Provided you take the resonable rate into consideration this is an ok choice. The rail trail is a bit hard to find, it starts just north of town as there are still rails in the town centre. Once you find it there is parking available, the only word of warning is that the trail is slighly downhill leaving Gaylord so you have all the uphill on the return at the end of the day.

We stayed one night in room 223. Huge room with 2 comfy beds and sofa pullout! The bathroom is also huge, and nice. The location of the hotel is great. Super Walmart is just behind it, Ruby Tuesday is kitty korner to it and Bob Evans is right beside it. The pool & hottub were nice. Very clean. It also had about 4 or 5 patio sets around the pool, which is great for parents. We didn't eat breakfast because we slept in! Great pillows :) We ended up eating at Big Boy down the road, which was good. I can't think of anything bad. Nice staff & clean hotel. l'd definetely stay here again!

I've stayed here a few times when doing business in northern Michigan. I didn't have a reservation, so was glad when they had availability (not a sure thing in the summer). Rooms are clean, breakfast is good with some fruit and protein selection along with the usual large variety of starches. Breakfast area is very clean. Business rate was very reasonable. I check in late and check out early, so didn't have a chance to use the pool. Lobby was clean, staff was nice. They even provided me with some toiletries that I neglected to bring with me. This is a very quiet place and there are some restaurants very near by. I can think of no complaints at all.
