Well planned out trail from Glen Arbor to the Dune Climb. The best 5 miles you'll ride in our area. An Additional 5 miles of trails will be ready in July. The new trail will link Glen Arbor with Empire & the Dune Climb.

We rented bikes in Glen Arbor and biked the whole trail. Nice to bike on a hot day - breeze through the woods, pass through Glen Haven, end up at the Dune Climb. Liked not having to drive !

Looking forward to when they extend it to Port Oneida.

This part of Michigan is as nice as anywhere in the U.S. and we have been to all 50 states. This area in the northwest lower peninsula has a spectacular coastline and beautiful terrain.

There are many great hiking trails in the area and you cannot go wrong. Make sure you get down to the lakeshore and hike some if the dunes. Also get a hike to one of the many bluffs that offer great views of Lake Michigan and the beach. There is a relatively short hike just south of Glen Haven. Awesome

The State is eventually going to extend the Sleeping Bear trail and bike path all the way into Glen Arbor. It is about as wide as a 1 lane road. It is fun to walk, many people ride bikes which can get a bit crazy if they are going fast but everyone seems to be going slower to take in the views. And as you pass by several cool sights, the views are spectacular. It is one of those things you have to do..and if the sun is setting, the views are very cool.

You can take the trail right up to the sand dunes. The sand dunes are also one of those things you "must do" if you are in reasonable shape. You can run right down the face of the dunes and jump right in Lake Michigan at the bottom. Then the climb back up is a fun thing to do (like a 5k run). Many people stop several times mid-climb to take a break etc., so it is not too daunting.

Needless to say, this is one of those outdoor activities you just have to experience.
