Nice museum that tells the history of Grand Rapids. Lots for the lids to see too. Love the carosel and the period displays.

A visit to Grand Rapids should include time for a visit to the museum. The exhibits are so well done and educational. The views of the river are beautiful and you can't miss the carousel!

The carousel provides us the bookends for visits with our granddaughter several times a year. In between there are three floors and the special exhibits. It's one of the best places to experience the furniture industry history. There are the doll houses to play in, large displays of native animals and habitat, hands on opportunities for all ages. We can't wait to take in the newly redesigned and upgraded planetarium. And of course the Carousel, an original, in a specially built room over the Grand River - great views riding on the "galloping" horses. Plus, the rides are free.

The museum is well laid out and average in size. We only needed a couple hours. We went because out kids wanted to see the special exhibits - Legos and dinosaur. Both we nice but again small. There are also other museums within walking distance.
