The people at Borchers are very welcoming and accommodating. On the phone they took the time to discuss our choices and preferences and provided information and answers that helped us plan our trip and the canoeing on the Au Sable. That was not the case when we called two other similar operations in town.
When we arrived at Brochers we found ample parking and very welcoming team that helped us organize for our 18 miles trip. The canoe was ready for us in the water and the team helped us to load and secure our equipment. Detailed information about the river was provided with great pictures to familiarize us with pull out and rest options.
The polyurethane Old Town canoe was in perfect condition but we chose to use our own wooden paddles. Other operation on this section of the river have only aluminum canoes that are noisy and chase away all wildlife.
The section of the Au Sable from Grayling is very easy to paddle and very beautiful. With very little effort and at a very low intensity paddling we covered 18 miles in less than 5 hours. You can literally float down river with no paddling at all.
Few minutes after we pulled out a Borchers van picked us up and drove us back to our car.
Wonderful river serviced by a wonderful operation. We will be back soon!
