“Relaxation Incarnate in SW Michigan!”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Just got back from a fantastic Memorial Day weekend at the Harbert House B&B with my best friend. Nancy Watson is a tremendous host, a former professional caterer whose experience and professionalism really shines in thoughtful execution of the details. Her inn is spacious and relaxed, her style knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the Gallery Room, the carefully made breakfasts (especially the pre-breakfast coffee & baked yummy treat-of-the-day), the huge open back porch dining area on beautiful mornings, and the proximity to the lake as well as the many attractions of the area (great small towns, wineries, the beach, etc.) Save me a room, Nancy - I'm coming back!

Room Tip: The Gallery Room has 2 queen beds; others have 1 queen. The area is blissfully quiet, however, be a...

First the owner, Nancy was a wonderful. We had two rooms, which were very nicely decorated and extremely clean. We missed the the wine and hors d'oeuvre as we were at a Journeys distillery tour. The house is located within close proximity to the beach, restaurants and theaters. Breakfast was delightful. The public rooms were very homey with a grand piano, several sitting areas and a cozy fireplace. We will stay there again. We loved the southwest room!

We took over the whole house with 11 of us. The hostess, Nancy, was very nice and allowed us to enjoy all of our planned activities. Home was beautiful, not far from the beach (a short drive) and near a great little bakery and not far from shops in New Buffalo. Food was more on the gourmet side but delicious with lots of local produce used. Rooms were clean and simple and nice. Each room had its own bathroom which was nice with a group of 11 women.

Room Tip: I stayed in the pear room. Largest room in the B&B (other than the gallery which has 2 beds but...

Superb hospitality! Nancy went out of her way to make us feel welcome and anticipated many of our needs. Lovely touches included evening wine & gourmet hor d'euvres as well as a scrumptious and hearty cooked gourmet breakfast. The accommodation is immaculate, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The house also allows visitors to either meet and socialize in a welcoming common space or to find a niche to relax and be on their own. We would go back in a 'heartbeat'. My only recommendation would be to inform the owner ahead of time if your tastes tends toward the more bland or you prefer traditional breakfast fare as some of the beautifully prepared gourmet offerings were a bit challenging for my palate. That said... the 'dutch baby' was amazing - a visual and taste sensation!

Room Tip: The pear room seems to be the coolest in hot weather. The larger gallery room gets sun all day from...

Spent a wonderful night at this lovely B&B. The place is charming and imaculate. Wonderful beds.
Nancy is warm and inviting. Delicious breakfast and the best coffee cake ever!
Only negative is that it is not on the water, but it's a mile down the road. We will return.

My parents and I stayed here and we will return. What a lovely place with super nice surroundings. The rooms are clean with a TV and bathroom in every room. Nancy is wonderful and we loved the appetizers and breakfast she prepared. If you need a quiet get away to a nice Michigan town, here it is. We loved the short drive/walk to the beach with nice restaurants for lunch or dinner.

We had a wonderful experience at the Harbert House. Our hostess Nancy was full of information regarding local restaurants and wineries. The common room boasted a wonderful fireplace which we took advantage of after our day out on the wine trail. David the "resident pianist" was a wonderful accompanist to our impromptu sing-a-long. The inn lends to a very relax atmosphere.
