I'm not a sandwich fan at all - unless it's a Gurney sandwich! Huge portions (easy to split a sandwich with someone). The deli sauce is delicious. No place to eat inside, but take your food down to the harbor and sit at their picnic tables for a gorgeous view. We go to Gurneys 3-4 times each summer - never disappoints!

Great sandwiches. Their homemade bread is to die for. Try to get a bag of the bread "heels" to take home. Yum. The liquor selection is good.Convenient parking behind store .

First of all, this is not a restaurant-it's a bottle shop-AKA old school liquor store with a deli counter. But, the type of place you send your kids on their bikes to pick up sandwiches. Family vibe/local owned. All cash unless you have a house account. You will see a line out the door in summer, but don't let that deter you-goes quick. Ask for 1/2 meat if you don't want a huge mound of meat in your sandwich. Chips, sodas, teas...and adult beverages-make sure to go with the kids for those! Great place to run and grab something to take to the beach, the boat, or pack for a northern Michigan picnic. Then, go to Tom's Mom's Cookies or walk a couple doors down for fudge and/or ice cream. Then, bike everywhere for the rest of your trip to work off the calories!!

Be prepared to wait in line during the summer months and Saturdays to get one of these sandwiches on fresh baked breads loaded with meat , cheese and condiments of your choice. The "Wreck" is my favorite with all the meats, cheese and Gurney's delic sauce on Pumpernickle bread. If your looking for a bottle of wine this is also the place as it has a large selection of fine wines.

Great sandwiches and a good wine selection. Lots of pop, chips. Carry-out only no credit cards. Go rent a kayak from outfitters and eat your guernwich in the harbor.
