We stayed on a beach access spot, it was beautiful! Lake access spots and outer rim spots offer a bit more privacy, the middle spots are more open to the adjacent lots but offer easy access for camper trailers. There are 2 bathroom buildings, older, but they kept them pretty clean. I think they cleaned them 2 times a day. The entire park was full when we went so the bathrooms got a lot of traffic. One downside is that there are only 4 showers for the whole park. We had to wait a couple of times but the longest wait for a 4 night stay was about 45 minutes. It was very pretty - great sunrises! Staff is friendly, and they have a vendor for wood that was pretty reasonable. They even have a "trial" dog beach area. It's not on any of the current maps because it's on a trial basis. If you take your dog, PLEASE keep your dog on a leash at all times (we took a 30' lead so he could run in the water) and pick up the poo - this is definiately something that would be a GREAT permanent addition to the park. This access is located down by the dog walk area on the North side of the park. Overall, we would definately recommend the campground and are planning on going back again in the future.

Nice campground. Easy to get to beach right off campground. There's also a day use area. Rangers were very friendly. Kids programs were cute. Nice ice cream shop just out entrance. Bathrooms need updating. No family showers like some other state parks.

This is a family favorite year after year. The beach is clean and well maintained. Bathrooms are clean with room for changing clothes. The water in Lake Huron is cold but the kids love it! This is our 8th year returning to enjoy the beach.

Camping @ it's best! Clean park, beach, camp sites & restrooms.
Could use updated facilities but was adequate for our stay.
Quiet hours were enforced & enjoyed meeting new people from all over.

Wife and I just took our 15 month old daughter camping for the first time from Saturday June 9th thru Wednesday June 13th and was amazed at what a fantastic place Harrisville State Park was. The beach was long and nice(water was still a bit chilly this early in summer) We had site #133 which was gigantic, plenty of room to spread out.. The price is great, everybody was friendly..

We just returned from a 5 day stay over the fourth of july holiday at Harrisville State Park and it was a terrific campground that we will definitely return to. The park had lots of mature trees and most of the sites still had nice grassy areas, The park also has a wonderful paved walking/biking trail that runs the length of the park. The bathrooms need to be renovated similar to other Michigan parks that have more shower stalls including one that is handicap / family accessible. That being said though the bathrooms were kept clean and there were two showers per restroom. I found the the bathhouse on the north side of the campground has two different shower heads. One was brutally harsh and you could not take a small child in there but the other stall was fine. We stayed on sites 127 & 129 which were fine. 127 was better because it had more grass and less dirt (some sites may be prone to flooding during intense rain). I would also warn that sites 133 & 135 have huge unsightly electrical boxes on them. This park also had quite a few beach front sites that were really nice. There are also several cabins for rent that looked really appealing. There is playground equipment available on the beach but it is easily as old as the park. The beach areas are well kept but there are parts in the water that can be rocky so water shoes might be handy. The campground host was very pleasant and had tons of activities for kids. The park is located within 30 mins of Alpena and Tawas so great location. Lots of good restaurants (Flour Garden for breakfast or lunch) and a great ice cream stand (Country Cone) just outside the park entrance that had a large variety and gave huge portions. I would highly recommend this park and the real perk is that it offers nearly the same amenities as the west Michigan campgrounds with much smaller crowds. True gem on the east side.
