Surprised how reasonably priced this property was. It was clean, seemed either recently remodeled or recently built. Breakfast was included, and was pretty expansive. Rooms were nicely laid out. Love the little window seat in the room even though it's just a small field to look over.

I was quite pleased and would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for your positive review. I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us so much. Our property is only 8 years old, and we are currently undergoing a remodel in the breakfast area. I am glad that you enjoyed our window seat, which we conveniently have in every room. We are very glad that you chose to stay with us and we look forward to your next stay with us!

Rating this a 5 based on what it is - simple inexpensive comfortable overnight accommodation. In that respect, the Holland Microtel was flawless. Everything perfectly clean and fresh and in working order. In particular, I liked:
- Pleasant staff. In particular, the lady working the desk at check-in was friendly and very helpful in answering my questions about the area.
- No strong perfume-y smells from cleaners or artificial air fresheners (a pet peeve of mine) - just simply clean.
- They have an elevator to the upper floors.
- The room had a built-in window seat (just a padded ledge, but comfortable, where I enjoyed a few minutes of reading while the rest of my group was still getting ready in the morning).

Room Tip: On the back side is a field, so rooms on that side (odd numbers, I think) would be darker outside at night. Both sides will get a little road noise from the nearby highway, but not enough to be a problem.

Our trip wasn't planned, however the hotel was great and the staff were very friendly. When we visit Holland MI again this hotel would be on the list to stay. The location was easy to find, close to all the locations that we needed to go so it made it easy to come and go without wasting a lot of travel time.

We were initially skeptical about this property after reading other reviews here. However, I was pleased to find that the negative reviews were wrong...This place was well worth the money.

We stayed here 9/21 - 9/24 and could not have been happier with the room, service, and hospitality. The manager was very friendly and was happy to move us to another floor when told of my wife's pet allergies (Floor 2 is pet friendly). We were in room 327.

The room was very clean. We opted for the suite which gave us a small fridge and microwave. The fridge was a larger dorm-type model with room for 2 gallons of milk, assorted beverages, and small items like yogurt and cheese. The queen bed was soft enough for three nights, but nothing to write home about. I didn't try the pull-out sleeper, but the sofa was comfortable. The window seat was great for reading or watching TV. The bathroom was very clean, and fresh towels were provided daily. The TV was a 40" flat screen and seemed huge in this room...which was great for watching football games! There was no more damage or destruction in this room that you would find in any hotel room anywhere. Maybe a minor paint scuff here and there, but nothing life-shattering.

The only "downside" to this place seemed to be the breakfast area. The food was standard hotel fare...waffles, cereals, fruit, toast, etc. The breakfast area is quite small. There were people seated at the 2 tables and throughout the lobby all three mornings. However, we found that simply waiting until about 8:30 for breakfast provided a nearly empty room with plenty of places to sit.

I read some reviews about highway noise...from our room, you couldn't hear much more than the distant passing truck. The odd-numbered rooms face an electrical supply company. They didn't make much noise, but you could tell they were there.

This place is easy to drive by without a GPS to assist you. However, we found it is still easy enough to get to from the next street.

Overall, this lodging is much, much cheaper than anywhere else in the Holland area. However, I feel as though it was well worth the price.

Room Tip: Microtel is between 24th and 32nd streets. Turn from 196/31 onto either of those. If you turn on 32nd, Hastings is on your right. If you turn on 24th, cross the railroad tracks, and Hastings is on your left.

Thank you so much for your review. We truly do appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I am very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us so much and that the room on the third floor worked out well for you. We are actually undergoing some remodeling in our breakfast area in the next few weeks to change the layout and add more seating for our guests. We do hope that you come visit us again on your next visit to Holland and see the improvements we are making.
