Having attended two concerts here and my son's graduation ceremonies, this place is special. I also plan to take a group of hikers out there to walk thru the campus as well as Interlochen State Park across the street.

One of the best ways to sample the diversity of art available here at Interlochen Center For The Arts is the performance called COLLAGE. It is a wonderful evening sampling of all types of music, dance, song and arts. It is in the outdoor covered venue called Kresge. Tickets are required and early arrival is advised to get good seats. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are offered for sale in tents on campus before the performance. There is an area with table and chairs for dining. It is an incredible evening and recommended for all.

I grew up going to concerts/plays at Interlochen and then drifted away for a while not realizing how fortunate we are here in the far north to have such a treasure. Interlochen allows students to stay, study, perform and learn their love of arts/music is a gift they will carry throughout their entire life. Many have participated in the academy (during the school year) and/or the summer camp programs and gone on to become well known performers.

The summer line up is always exciting with many popular artists visiting our gem of the north...and I always plan concert evenings, many even being free of charge! Just going out and walking around the camp is exciting as you can almost always find a rehearsal to sit in on...or just find a comfortable spot to sit and drink in music floating thru the air. And the art displays are amazing in themselves.

It only took me a few minutes of walking thru the campus to realize, Interlochen is a special place.
Every few steps, different rehearsals can be heard, lots of happy young people in uniforms, focused on pursing their chosen art form, situated on a beautiful, lakeside setting. . We attended the World Youth Orchestra concert. Amazing high school musicians, who sound like professionals.

I don't give out many 5-star ratings but this venue deserves it! Set in a beautiful, almost idyllic setting in a secluded campus area, Interlochen Center for the Arts deserves its well-known excellence. The campus is spotless, the art and music venues are all excellent, and cannot imagine anyone having a less than great experience here!
