My husband and I stumbled upon this little gem when passing through Iron Mountain, and ended up spending the entire evening here we had such a nice time! The fish fry dinners (walleye and white fish) were delicious - nothing fancy, nothing over-priced, just very good food at a very good price. The ambiance (all things presidential and love-your-country) was terrific. Service was very good. Owners both talked to us - very nice folks. The live music by Conga Se Menne (unfortunately they only play here ~3 times/year) was fabulous - kept us there and drinking which was a lot of fun!

This is a nice restaurant where you can really just be yourself. There is no hype, pressure, or blasting music. The salads, burgers and fries are solidly good, and a bottle beer choice for UNDER $3.00 was a welcome surprise. You can sit inside and look at some really interesting Presidential memorabilia. The items are fresh, contemporary and interesting....not ugly, dusty, antiques that some restaurants just randomly hang on walls. You can also sit outside on the nice porch under the trees. We were only visiting Iron Mountain, but we definitely said if we lived here, this would be our Sunday leisurely lunch place.

Yep, my 105th review, and it is for good restaraunt. We visit Kingsford once a month. Well, we visit our grandson once a month. Kingsford, I could care less about. A vast wasteland at the gateway to the UP. But I digress. The White House was much better than I expected. From the outside, it could pass for a fine dining establishment, the inside on the other hand, is a simple dining area with no pretentiousness. The waitstaff was very attentive. They immediately made us feel very welcome. The menu was varied, but it too was simple with many focused choices. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It came wit sweet potato fries, delicious cole slaw, and slow simmered beans. There was side of bbq sauce, which was ok, but it wish there was a little "tang" to it, not a deal breaker. The other members of the party said their meals were very good. Our 3 yrs old grandson, the picky eater, devoured his burger. All in all, I think we found a gem. We WILL be back. The outdoor area is backing us.

The restaurant is located in an vintage house and decorated to celebrate the other White House and its occupants. They serve great sandwiches and plates of their own smoked pork and chicken. They serve lunch and dinner and have live music on the weekends. During the summer, there is a nice outdoor deck. Great gathering place.
