Crowded on Saturday with lots of people shopping around. Many times they have live music playing. Vendors continue to increase in the market. Its nice to meet the farmers and have a relationship with where your food comes from. Open Saturdays 7am-2pm. Also on Tues/Thurs but not many vendors on those days. We attends mostly on Saturdays and then run down on the other days if we run out of something.

We enjoy the Farmer's Market very much. For a town the size of Kalamazoo, I think we have one of the best outdoor markets around. We especially love purchase homegrown produce from Michigan. One thing I would like to see changed is for vendors not to be allowed to sell produce from out of Michigan. The variety of things sold there is amazing and we've never been there when it wasn't packed with people.

The city of Kalamazoo's seasonal Farmer’s Market showcases baked goods, fresh meats & produce, plants & flowers, and hand made crafts.

May and November: open on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
June through October: open Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays from 7 a.m to 2 p.m.

On my most recent visit, some of the food items that really stood out to me were the tomatoes, sweet corn, potted herbs, various greens, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, cantaloupes, jams and jellies, meats (no hormones, MSG, etc.), and breads. I saw signs showcasing gluten-free options and many of the vendors participate in Project Fresh, WIC and EBT programs (for EBT, simply go to the Peoples Food Coop table between 8am & noon on Saturday and use your EBT card to purchase tokens). There was live folk music, a taco truck (I had a delicious pork burrito), and a fantastic ambiance. The Kalamazoo Farmer's Market is located at 1204 Bank Street (between Lake Street & Stockbridge Avenue off of Portage Rd.)

In town on a last-minute get away with the hubby. Wouldn't ordinarily have thought about visiting a Farmer's Market, but it was suggested by folks at Stuart Avenue Inn B&B as a place of interest. WOW! Small in space, but varied in vendors. Although we just ate a filling breakfast at the B&B, we couldn't pass up a scone from Victorian Bakery. The market was full of the season's best - blueberries, cherries and some of the early peaches. Not to mention home grown lettuces, cucumbers, peppers, the first of the garlic, and of course, lots of zukes. Good thing our room at the B&B has a fridge, because we loaded up with goodies to savor the rest of our stay. And flowers! Did I mention the flowers! Hubby bought me stalks of glads - beautiful colors and so fresh!
