“Terrific for families with kids - great value!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2010

We got the largest suite for $165/night including continental breakfast. The room was modern and clean with colorful design. Beds were comfy with nice, high-end bedding. It had a microwave, dw, fridge, stove, dishes etc. We put the kids to bed and closed the door and watched TV, which was marvelous! Small but totally functional pool for the kids.

Only thing I'd criticize is that we called down and asked for a crib (we should've reserved it in advance, I know) and they never followed up with us. We made due with a toddler in a big bed and it wasn't a crisis. Perhaps they were understaffed for a busy weekend, as the front desk wasn't always manned.

We will seek out TownePlace Suites in the future. Great value.

Location was excellent for our ski trip. Hotel is newer and in very nice condition. Continental breakfast was satisfactory. Pool water was TOO COLD! Bed was quite comfortable. Primary concern was the paper thin walls. I could hear the guy next door snoring and we could hear every step walked upstairs. This really affected our sleep quality and our overall feeling about the hotel. Because of this and the cold pool water, our family will not stay here again.

Stayed in this hotel with family (2 rooms) for a week over Christmas 2009. We were all very pleased with the hotel rooms, facilities, staff, and overall experience. The kitchens in each of our rooms were more than adequate for our needs, and they seemed well-equipped for people who would want to eat more than just a few snacks at the hotel as we did. The hotel seems new and well-maintained. Staff were helpful and friendly. Location was OK, just off the freeway, but it was a bit of a drive (15-20 min in the snow) to the Kalamazoo downtown area. Breakfast was good although missing a hot egg/sausage element as other chains provide, and we would have like the hours to go longer than 9 AM as we were on holiday. In one of the rooms, the toilet could use the addition of a seat cover; also, a full-length mirror seemed oddly placed just opposite the toilet (who wants to see that view of themselves at 7 AM?). But overall this was a very nice place to stay a week while visiting the Kalamazoo area, and worth the extra cost over more moderately-priced hotels in the area.

We stayed in a studio that was both spacious and well planned. Plenty of storage with a complete kitchen. The internet was very fast and the beds great. This hotel is fresh and clean and easy to get to. The staff was friendly and the elevators quick.

This was our last stay after a long arduous trip. What a delightful surprise to walk into this modern, comfortable hotel by Marriott.

The hotel is pretty new, but the floors and wall are SOOO thin that you can hear everything going on around you. (the floors are wood, so its even worse!)

The (free) breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. I've stayed in "downtown" Kallamazoo (Radisson) which was much nicer. But if you want to stay outside of town, it is probably your best bet.

We like to stay in Marriott properties and this is our third stay in six months at this motel. The motel is clean, staff is friendly and professional. Breakfast is good and includes make your own waffles.

We travel to Kalamazoo every Christmas for our family gathering. In the past we've stayed at the Hampton Inn on the other side of I-94 (same exit) and last year at the Radisson downtown. The Marriott had the cheapest rates this year, so we thought we'd give it a try.

The public areas are not much to speak of, brightly colored with plastic tables, in ways reminiscent of a fast food restaurant. The rooms, however, are very nice. There is a full kitchen with utensils, a flat screen TV, and a decent bathroom. Free wireless internet access. The hotel was very quiet, with elevators at both ends of each floor.

The not so good included uncomfortable beds with un-ironed and thus scratchy sheets; no rubber bath mat for the tub (and it was quite slippery), and most annoying, the free continental breakfast that ends at 9 am sharp. One morning we got down there at 8:30 so it was no problem, but the second morning we missed out -- everything was packed up by 9:05 am. There was a sign showing the hours, but this is the first hotel I can remember that doesn't serve breakfast (free, continental, full, etc.) until 10 am.

All in all, it's a decent place. Room is much better than the Hampton Inn and location is more convenient than the Radisson. We'd probably stay again if the price were right.

  • Liked — The full kitchen was sparkling
  • Disliked — The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets were scratchy
