A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort
Reviewed 28 December 2012

We made reservations for a three bedroom townhouse. A day or so later my husband made a call to the office to confirm. He got the answering machine and did not receive a call back for days. When we finally did get called back we learned that we had been DOWNGRADED from a nice looking three bedroom town house to a disgusting 2brd and 1brd combo. The new rooms assigned to us were much more dated even though the room we wanted was ON OUR CONFORMATION PAGE. This was ridiculous and there was no way we were staying in these disgusting 2brd and 1brd combo. IT IS A SHAM! RESERVE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Room Tip: Make sure to choose the deluxe rooms, although you might be DOWNGRADED ANWAY.

Bubba,

I'm very sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with us.

There may have been confusion with your reservation since you booked online. We have previously had many problems working with outside booking sites, but I am personally working with them to correct this problem now. Since we are a family owned resort we do highly recommend that guests call the resort directly to book with us. I know it is out of the norm these days to call a hotel directly, but in order to assure that you are pleased with your stay it is best to call before you pay for something that we cannot provide.

As for the 3 bedroom condo in Maplewood Ridge that you were placed in, all of the units in Maplewood Ridge are owned by individual owners who decorate and upgrade their units at their own discretion. These are more or less their "Up North retreats" and they allow us to place our guests in their units while they are not occuping them. I'm very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the unit that you were in. We highly recommend that owners keep their units upgraded to assure that our guests feel welcome and comfortable, but ultimately it is up to them what they do to their unit.

I hope that you will come stay with us again so we can assure you have a wonderful stay!

We didn't actually book the room, a friend did, so I went by the rate schedule for $520+ dollars for 3 nights on their website and expected a one bedroom condo. What we got was a hotel room with a beautiful view and a private balcony.
The room had a microwave, sink, coffee pot and small refrigerator in the room. It was furnished with one wine glass, water glasses assorted dishes, bowls and flatware that looked like assortment from Goodwill. The bedding was 2 star quality and the TV large though older style. There was a sofa and small table with 2 chairs.
The sink was in the bathroom and it did have a separate shower and jacuzzi tub but not a particularly inviting room.
There was wifi but no phone so if we wanted to call the pro-shop, grill or manager we had to use our cell phones. Fresh towels was brought daily and baskets emptied. So, it was a lovely place, geographically, though the accomodations were disappointing, especially when we were expecting a separate bedroom.

Room Tip: The rooms are privately owned condos, so make sure you know what you're getting.

Fell on A-Ga-Ming on TripAdvisor.com while look for lodging in and around Torch Lake for a long weekend and reunion. Condominium accommodations were very clean and very comfortable. Didn't come with the intent to play golf, but the two beautiful courses will almost certainly bring me back.
The resort currently doesn't have food service beyond the pro-shop and no pool. BUT, if you are looking for a very nice quiet comfortable base to explore one of Michigan's most beautiful areas, I highly recommend it! If golf is an important feature, then you really have it made.
