“Great little breakfast, lunch and coffee place”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

Stopped here for first time recently on way up north. Excellent B-fast and sandwiches. Not a coffee drinker but they had a good selection . Will go back when traveling up North.

“Great food, great value”
Reviewed 29 May 2013

Just spent Memorial Day weekend in this cute little all-American town, located "up north", near Cadillac, Michigan. Our host took us to the Muskrat Lake Cafe for breakfast one morning. We had to wait to be seated, but it was worth every minute. Everyone else in my group had an omelet, which they all said was very tasty. I opted for the "Hungry Man's breakfast" - two eggs, meat of my choice (bacon, of course), potatoes (home fries), and toast or pancake (toast for me.) All this for the grand price of $4.95. In this day and age, that is unheard of. The eggs were done perfectly, and the bacon! Thick, crispy slices that had been cooked using a bacon weight - superb! The home fries were also crispy and delicious, and the toast is thick, thick, thick slices of (I believe) home-made bread. If you desire, you can get some home-made jam to go with your toast, as well.

This little shop also serves a home-made cinnamon roll that is as big as your face, and could easily serve a family of four. We opted not to try it, but it did look delicious.

If you are traveling "up north", get off the freeway and drive through the small towns of northern lower Michigan. That's the only way to find a gem like this.

“Excellent fresh fare”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

This place is the restaurant gem of Lake City. Only open for breakfast & lunch, they do not own a deep fryer. Everything is fresh tasting. Good variety to choose from.
