“stay across the street for 1/2 the price”
Reviewed 22 March 2013

The hotel across the street costs 1/2 the price and offers free breakfast. The Lexington web site makes the hotel look better than it is. The recreation room was free but you get a shock from the air hockey game when you turn it on. The wiring is visibly not safe. The basketball court is a converted racquetball court. My bag was stolen from the computer area, you have to send printing to the front desk. The worst part of the stay was that the management did not follow up on a complaint that the next room was too noisy. This is at 2am. The desk clerk gave them a warning which quieted the occupants for about 10 minutes. If he had just come back around at any time, he would have heard them because they stayed loud until 5am. We could hear everything that took place in the room next door just as if it was in our room, especially their alarm clock which went off at 7am. I complained to every manager but was brushed off with, "Since your stay was satisfactory we don't see a problem." Visually, the hotel is nice but the construction is cheap, beds are not comfortable. Others in the hotel said their rooms were noisy and no I'll try the hotel across the street next time.

Dear Lou, Let us first thank you for sharing your experience and giving us the opportunity to learn from it. We have researched the date of your visit and yes, we did have a group in-house on that date which caused a noise disturbance for some of our other guests. Please know that we do take that behavior seriously and our Night Manager spoke with those individuals throughout the evening, as well as with the leader of their event the following day to prevent it from recurring. It is important to us that all of our guests have a great experience, while also being considerate of others. In our research, we discovered that a bag was found in our lobby during the date of your stay and turned in to our Lost & Found (perhaps someone thought it had been left behind). Please email us at yourfriends@lexingtonlansing.com with the color and description of your computer bag, so we can see if this is a match. We have found that having courtesy printing available through our Front Desk allows us quicker access to restocking paper/ink and correcting any printer issues that may arise. Thank you for bringing the concern with the air hockey table to our attention. This was the first we had heard mention of it, so we are having our maintenance staff check the equipment. The indoor sports half-court is a fun and unique part of our Activity Center, which is not found at other hotels in Michigan. We take pride in the fact that we have been locally owned for over 30 years and our owners are constantly investing in high quality upgrades to our property. While we frequently receive compliments from guests about how comfortable our beds are, we are excited to share that we will be renovating all of our guest rooms (as well as other select areas of the hotel) during this summer and fall. We truly value your business and hope you will allow us to serve you again in the future.

Thank you,

We stayed overnight here with friends for the Michigan GWRRA "Wingless Weekend" last weekend. A beautiful hotel, very accommodating to our group and its needs. Our check in was smooth, the only snag was the key cards not working, they were quickly coded again and worked after that. We had a very nice room, comfortable bed, nice to have a couch in the room as well as a refrigerator. Amenities were nice, I like Bath & Body Works products. Used several of the public rooms with our group and they were all in good condition and met our needs. Restaurant breakfast buffet the next morning was good though a bit higher priced than I would have liked. I would stay here again.

We have stayed here several times and have always been very happy. During this stay, not so much.
We had enrolled in the "Lexington Rewards Club" last year. When I called to book the stay, was asked about our rewards number.
When we arrived to check in, we found out that the hotel was not honoring any of the rewards club benefits because "we are going through a name change".
Honoring a promised upgrade and instead not giving us a "handicapped room" with no counter in the bathroom would have been an easy fix for us, who may not be coming back when it does become a Crowne Plaza.
We also waited in the lounge for several minutes and were not acknowledged; we left.
We still enjoyed the pool and the hottub, which is open 'round the clock.
This time, the staff didn't seem too interested in our business like they have in the past. Maybe it is because the staff is going through this brand change; sadly, it is impacting guests too.

The reservation system is in need of updating as well. We received an e-mailed confirmation, but when you attempt to reply, the system is still set up for the sheraton mail system; it was never fixed.

Room Tip: Avoid handicapped rooms unless that is what you require. Awkward bathroom with no counterspace.

Dear Steven, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your business and sincerely regret that we did not make you feel valued during your most recent visit. We remain loyal to the Lexington brand and Lexington Rewards program members. Unfortunately, our associates did not follow through with your room upgrade through the program. We understand that this made your stay less than enjoyable and have reviewed this with them to prevent it from recurring. We believe that the lapses in attention on the part of our associates were related to the high number of guests and groups in-house, rather than the future brand change. This has been reviewed for improvement as well. While we are excited about what lies ahead this year, our own personal goal has always been to maintain a high level of standards and personalized service. We will remain locally owned, managed and staffed (as we have been for 30+ years) and continue to pursue this goal. Please accept our heartfelt apologies and we hope that you will allow us to serve you again when coming to Lansing.

Thank you,
Cindy L. Bowen, CHA, CTA

Great stay. Shuttle service was outstanding to and from airport and to my nearby meeting destination. Shuttle was already booked and cab was late so the manager drove me to my nearby meeting!! Who does that? Lexington does!!!

My company put me up here before a meeting. The location is super easy to get to, ample parking though it seemed a little dark in the parking area I ended up in. Stayed on the second floor, never waited long for an elevator. I had a super clean double room, including a nicely appointed bathroom with seperate vanity area. Refrigerator in the room is nice but does not good if it isn't turned on (a big annoyance of mine - why even have them if they aren't going to be turned on!) The bed was very very comfortable, too comfortable in fact as I fell asleep while trying to work while sitting on the bed with my laptop. Water pressure in the shower was good, never an issue with temp of water. Nice bar and restaurant. My salad was very very good. We used one of the meeting rooms and it was also set up well. Our service in the meeting was very good - not intrusive but no one went without. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and ready to serve!

I would definitely stay here again if I am in the Lansing area. Four stars instead of five only because of the dark parking area and the refrigerator not being on. Maybe that's unfair, but I am just not ready to give it five stars based on this visit.

When I Googled upscale hotels in the Lansing area this popped up. We had tickets to a play at the Wharton Center and wanted to have a weekend getaway. It certainly was not worth the money spent on upgrading to the 5th "Signature" floor. Up arriving we were not told what to expect as far as upgrades and I was disappointed not to find any information in the room. You would think if they were offering upgraded amenities they would let you know about them. Upon finding the 'great room' on the 5th floor, all that was available was a carafe of room temperature water and a few glasses. We left to find a happy hour in a nearby bar even though we were told online there would be snacks and 'prices' on beer and wine. But again, there was no info in the room.
In the evening, we took showers and went out for the evening. I noticed the drain was making strange noises. When we got up the next morning the drain was clogged and water was still standing in the bathtub.
One of the things we were looking forward to was the cookies and milk and turn down service in the evening. Yep, you guessed it. No turn down, no cookies and milk.
By this time we were resigned to just getting up and leaving in the morning. When we got to the 'great room' for our complimentary breakfast in the morning it was taken down. On a Sunday morning at 9:30! Needless to say we packed up and checked out and found a nice breakfast elsewhere. (without having had a shower because the tub was clogged)
Definitely not worth the price and it was disappointing that our opportunity for a special midwinter weekend getaway was spent at an average hotel.
All in all, it was a nice hotel but certainly not the upscale hotel it billed itself as online.

I stay here often for work, and although I hate being stuck in Lansing with no car.. The hotel makes up for it! The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, the gym is nice and clean, the happy hour is reasonable and I love the cookies and milk delivered to my room every night! I always take advantage of the free hotel shuttle which is a perk to get me to and from the mall.
