We spent several days at Oak Cove Resort with my whole extended family. (about 45 people). The set up was perfect for this as each family had their own space/cottage and there were several places we could all meet up as a big group. Tons to do.. row boats, fish, pool, lots of yard games, fun house with pool table etc...The meals served were absolutely delicious and I have couple of children that are picky eaters that ate everything and went back for seconds!! Susan and Bob made our experience wonderful and unforgettable. We look forward to heading back up there again and recommend it to all.

Room Tip: There was no need for the fitness center as you can hike, walk, golf and swim the lake. Plenty to d...

Dear Rosie,
We were so happy to have your extended family here. Families like yours are why we are still doing this after 40 years. It is so rewarding to us to be able to provide a place where families may enjoy each other and not worry about meals. We appreciate your kind words because people really do read this and count on your expertise as a fellow traveler. We can say anything, but your words are the ones people will believe. Hope to see you again. Susan and Bob

Literally everything was great, but what stands out most is the way we were treated by Bob and Susan and their entire staff. I went with my Dad and 4 kids (ages 8-13) and they consistently greeted us by name, including when I first walked in the office as Bob was expecting me. You feel personally cared for and they start building a relationship that makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The kids he hired to assist at meals were also very friendly, attentive and respectful. The food! Oh, it was fresh, delicious, and all you can eat. I loved that everything was included with easy access to pool, lake and boats - even golf! We stayed at Aunt Cora and Nells, and a night in the Lakehouse. All beds were very comfortable. My only suggestion would be to strengthen the wi-fi signal, as anything more than sending a basic e-mail was difficult (e.g., couldn't stream online video/podcasts) ... but you shouldn't be spending too much time on the computer there anyway!

Room Tip: Read through all the accommodations to see what is your best fit. Some are more updated (lakehouse...

Well, Eddie, that was lovely. Thank you so much for saying all those nice things and the fact is, we really enjoyed you, your wonderful, fun Irish dad and your beautiful kids. You are the kind of guests we love to have. Thanks for finding us and we hope you will come back.

This August was our third summer vacation spent at Oak Cove. The kids absolutely love the trip and I love having our own little cottage, lots to keep the kids occupied and wonderful meals that I haven't had to prepare!

We take several afternoon trips to the amazing west coast beaches, only minutes away. Visiting the little downtowns and enjoying Michigan's hidden treasures. When we get back the kids like jumping in the heated pool or playing at the beach front before or after dinner.

Bob and Susan make you feel like you are visiting family and address everyone by name. Almost better than visiting relatives because you don't have to help with the dishes! We are looking forward to next year's visit.

Thank you, Anne, for that very nice review. We always love seeing families like yours who are happily occupying themselves with nice things to do. The small family clientele is our best customer and we continue to enjoy seeing yours.

We recently visited Oak Cove (my wife, myself and son who is almost 2) and had a great time. We were able to stay for eight days in the Beach House. I feel like I am just going to reiterate what all these other reviews have already said, but they do sum it up well. The staff is extremely friendly starting with Bob and Susan. They made us all feel very welcome and it felt like they were truly excited and happy to have you staying with them. The food was great and I never walked away from the lodge thinking we didn't get enough to eat.

As for things to do, there is an abundance, especially for an active 2 year old. The beach was clean and not very rocky at all. Same goes for the water. The pool, while not massive, is plenty big enough for the size of the resort. They provide plenty of balls (soccer, volley ball, wiffel balls, etc) for him to kick around and plenty of ground for him to burn some energy. The first thing he would say every morning was "Play sand, play water!"

The only thing I would look out for with a small kid is that most of the cottages don't have a bath tub, just a small stand up shower. If your child is like ours he will hate every minute of his shower.

Thank you again to the entire staff and other families who were there with us...you all made it a great break from the grind. Brian, Sara, and Nolan.

Room Tip: Every cottage is close to the beach whiles the houses are a little more of a walk. Not bad, but aga...

We loved seeing you play with Nolan when we went back and forth on our golf carts. An especially favorite moment was when you were holding him up so he could hit the tether ball! There's nothing more profound for a child than having two loving parents giving him their undivided attention. And you are right, we were sincerely happy to see you every morning and BTW, your son was a perfect gentleman at the dinner table. Thanks for writing. Hope you see you every summer from now on, perhaps a family tradition.

Based on the reviews from tripadvisor, our family planned a 5 day visit to Oak Cove. I was looking for some R&R along with enough activity to keep my 3 teenagers happy. We weren't dissapointed. We were kept busy with boating and water activities along with outdoor games, campfires and pinball. The food was good old fashioned homemade fair and I didn't have to lift a finger...glorious! There's plenty of antiquing within 10 minutes of the resort and several beautiful beaches long Lake Michigan within a half hour, like the beach towns of Sagatuk and South Haven. The cottages are simple and clean and all within a minute or two from the beach and the diningroom. We had a lovely family vacation at Oak Cove and would love to return to the area.

Wow, we are always happy when the teens have a nice time on a family vacation! This is a great report. Thanks so much for writing that. And you are right, there are so many things to do around here, you don't have to stay on the property. Many don't stray far, however, and it is worth the time to see what the other lake side towns offer or by going to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo on a rainy day.

Well, thanks for writing. It is always encouraging to know that even the young people (who are our very best customers) can get away from the hectic pace of life at home and enjoy themselves doing a little bit of nothing but having fun. Everyone needs to kick back and have a blast as you so aptly put it. Thanks a ton for writing and we hope to see you next summer.

We found Oak Cove on Trip Advisor, when we were looking for a place to stay near Sagatauk. Oak Cove Resort offers old-fashioned fun for the family, with every activity you can imagine, just as their website describes. The clean accommodations, homemade breakfasts, and dinner buffets aren't fancy; they fit the type of resort it is. When the dinner bell rings, you can jump off the pier, run up the slope and right into the front room for dinner. No TV (only DVD's), but there is free WIFI if you need it. Have your kids leave their electronics at home to swim, kayak, canoe, row, paddleboat, water volleyball, play a dozen different yard games, and play 18 holes of golf per day 5 minutes away. I don't know of any resort that offers all these for the package price. And Bob and Susan are friendly hosts. This was our first time coming here and we plan on returning next year.

A very nice review. I really love reading those! Was it you who told me you found us on Tripadvisor? One of our latest guests said that. I think it's really better for potential customers to take your word for it rather than ours so we appreciate everyone who writes as we know it takes forethought and effort. Thank you so much for doing that. We will look forward to seeing you next summer.
