“Better than the usual pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

This is a Marston's Inn serving well presented Banks beers on draught. The rooms have not suited every reviewer but for the price they are excellent value, and as good as one can expect in a pub with the facilities one would expect. The restaurant serves above average pub grub at competitive prices. Vegetables are well cooked and of better variety than one might expect

Room Tip: Room 10 has skylights only but is much cheaper

Only been here once and decided to have the BBQ chicken. It was dry and flavourless, and the sauce itself wasn't great. People who say it's great value are deluded. It's only 2 for 1 because the price is double the amount of most it's competitors, so you're not really gaining anything. Not much more to say really, other than crap. Perhaps that's a bit harsh but it's very average! For more reviews check out my page! -Tripadvisor's reviewer of the year

The hotel is situated close to the M5 and is well-situated for exploring the Worcestershire countryside. The accommodation is clean and there is free wifi. The pub food is really good and reasonably priced. Food finishes at 10 and there is no room service, but that is reflected in the price. The staff are polite and friendly.

Room Tip: Some rooms only have a roof window which I personally don't care for.

Not a review of the Hotel but just the restaurant. We visited in the evening at about 7.15pm, there were a few people in probably enticed there by the main and specials being 'buy one get one free' Sat down for quite a while having seen a waitress taking orders at tables. After about 10 to 15 minutes went to the bar whilst the waitress was there and asked if I should order food and drinks at the bar. She and the barman, without uttering a single word walked off in different directions. The barman came back eventually and I asked the same question to which he abruptly said that I could but my order could also be taken by the waiting staff at the table. I said that I would have a pint of lager to which he said that they would also take drinks orders at the table. After sitting down for a while a young man came to take the order. We both went for the Specials 'Buy one get one free' Plaice, chips and peas. A while later we were presented with cajan chicken which was obviously wrong and sent back. Eventually we got the right order and the young man who delivered it was very efficient and apologetic regarding the wrong order. If I was visiting on my own and paid the full price for the plaice meal I am not sure that it would have been tremendous value for money bearing in mind the ratio of fish to batter but at a 2 for 1 it wasn't so bad. Not sure that I would visit again. The main credit to the establishment was the skilful avoidance of eye contact by the waitress when people were trying to attract her attention.

Needed somewhere in Droitwich for an early start and this was perfect. Good location just a few minutes off M5. Large car park to right of the pub. Entry through pub but separate door to left of pub when the pub is shut (after you've got your keys!). Pub had 3 Marstons group beers on hand pump but food finished by 10pm which was no problem for us.

Room upstairs exactly as picture except comfortable double bed. Room had hairdryer, freeview, free wifi, kettle and tea/coffee plus two bottles of complimentary water. No fridge. Bathroom had complimentary toiletries. Not so many rooms, quiet, no noise from other rooms during our stay. We were front of building looking onto road, effective secondary double glazing on character building. Room very warm. Perhaps an issue if you need the windows open for temperature and the busy road. But that's the way it is.

Morning breakfast in the conservatory, freshly cooked, plentiful and whatever you wanted from the standard English cooked fare plus usual cereal/milk/fruit juice.

Would definitely return. Staff a real plus, genuine nice non-stuffy people with a sense of humour working really hard to make you at home.

This is our third visit to The Crown over the past three or four years. Initially we booked via the Internet, with some trepidation,we are not very experienced at buying this way!! However we should not have worried. The Crown is an attractive building situated in a very handy situation...easy to find. The staff were so helpful and friendly,we were impressed. We had travelled from further north to visit an ageing relative and decided, should we need to return, we would again book into the Crown. We did this the following year. By this time my husband had developed Coeliacs disease making him need to strictly observe a Gluten free diet. The staff at the Crown couldn't have been more helpful and demonstrated a good understanding of his needs. They already had gluten free bread in their kitchen, most impressive as other hotels we had stayed in did not have this. Our last visit a few weeks ago went just as well. In fact the staff remembered us. The place has undergone some decorative upgrade and looks very nice. I would happily recommend anyone to stay here...we can't wait to return.

Room Tip: There is a busy room to the front of the hotel so ask for a side or rear room.

we have stayed in a few Marstons pubs/hotels before the rooms are all of the same standard and a good size the rooms on the road side are noisy but the room was clean and the service very good. The breakfast was the best one we have had in any of the Marstons inns so far. you also have the bonus the Crown a 2 for 1 house

Room Tip: A room at the rear of the hotel will be quieter
