Nice, homey place to stay. Owners very nice. Breakfast was delicious. Close to all the great amenities of Mackinac. The shower was a standing one. Very small. Otherwise nice. Kind of pricey for the room.

We booked at the Metivier on a fluke. Our original choice got cancelled due to a missed response to an email confirmation request. The Metivier sounded quaint and off the beaten path. We were with a large group, and even though we were not in the same hotel, the walk was enjoyable and I looked forward to it each time. Every time we left or arrived back there were friendly faces and polite conversations with other guests. Afternoons we found cookies or coffe cake in the gathering room downstairs. I felt so unrushed and relaxed the entire weekend. Our room had a whirlpool tub and a private patio with a garden view. Both were quite shabby chique and very pretty, even in October. I would deffinately recommend a stay at Metivier, and it's friendly owners, to complete you Mackinac Island trip back in Time. You won't be dissapointed.

We have been going to the Metivier for 20 years and it is a very nice B&B. Always makes us feel like we are coming home. It is just a block off the main street so it is very close to everything - shopping, restaurants, ferry's, etc. and very quiet at night. The breakfast is continental but does feature a few hot dishes as well as cereal, fruit, etc. The only negative is that it is a little pricey.

Just got back a few weeks ago from Mackinac Island. I went several times as a kid with my parents and just took a trip wtih my husband and 2 boys. Stayed at the Metivier Inn and it was just as I remembered it as a child. Great location, great staff, wonderful room and beautiful flowers. We had a great room with a pull out couch for the boys to sleep on. The owners/staff had great recommendations for things to see and do and were always helpfull even at the end when we had to rush down to the ferry to leave. They ran our luggage down in a snap, no questions asked! Thanks again for a wonderful stay, we will be back again.

It was perfect....the location, the porch, the comfy beds, the friendliness of the staff, the afternoon treats...everything was just so charming. We are definitely looking forward to staying at the Metivier Inn again . We felt so at home!

Stayed at the Metivier over the last weekend with my husband and eight year old son, as well as some good friends. The rooms, as always, were nicely decorated and cozy. They had soft sheets above and below a thin comforter-type blanket, which I always appreciate. We had a room that faced the rear garden, so no real view. We had a window air conditioner (it was unusually hot), and while I prefer the ones on the wall, but it did cool things off. Towels were soft, bath products proviced were good, especially glycerin and lilac soaps.

The breakfast was very tasty both mornings we were there. There are always hard-boiled eggs, "George's oatmeal", and breads of all kinds. There was a cheesy egg casserole one morning and sausage, and a sausage and biscuit casserole another morning, and don't forget the yummy pastry. Juice, milk, water, coffee and tea are always available. There was lemonade and ice water available in the afternoons. and fudge arrived every afternoon in the mid-afternoon .

Our friends stayed in the little suite on the side porch. It had a kitchenette, sleeper sofa, and small table and chairs in one room and a queen size bed in the other. The bathroom had a nice, long counter with with a sink, but the shower was a very small stall that our tall friend had a real challenge getting in to.

If we had any comment for improvement, it would just be to have more friendly and smiling service from the innkeepers. I know they must get tired living where they work, but the friendliest person there was an older gentleman who was part of the staff (not sure if he was an innkeeper or owner). If they all just smiled and chatted a little more, it would be an even more positive experience.

All in all, I would highly recommend The Metivier Inn as a wonderful and comfortable place to stay on Mackinac. It's close to everything, yet not on the very busy main street.

Room Tip: I like the rooms on the front and along the side porch.
