We stayed at the Metivier B&B again and still love it. We splurged on the "Turret Room" overlooking Market Street and it is worth it. Great sitting spot in the turret for sipping wine, reading and viewing the Market St. activity. The bed was so comfortable; sank into deep comfortable sleep. My wife was OMG I love this bed. Clopping of horses out on the street is so relaxing. Breakfast was very good and it is in an excellent location. We usually visit in October for smaller crowds and slightly smaller prices, but the weather can be iffy. We have stayed in various rooms and all have their advantages, but I prefer the Market street view (and sounds).

Room Tip: Spend the money for Market street view (unless you don't want to hear horses clopping and occasi...

We have stayed at the Metivier for over 30 years...some years as many as two or three times a season. Such was the case this year. On our third visit we experienced a group of young parents with several small children who checked in on a Sunday afternoon. Shortly thereafter they started drinking in the inn’s main first floor room. In no time the group became loud and boisterous and their fun continued into the evening. We sure don’t blame anyone for wanting to have a good time but long after midnight and well into the morning hours (2:00 AM and beyond) they were loud and inconsiderate. We weren’t the only ones who were kept awake that night. Early the following morning their kids played tag throughout the inn banging into walls and room doors with parents no where in sight. The world is filled with people like that. It was an unfortunate experience for us and I was embarrassed as I had recommended the inn to our business friends who had stayed there at the same time.
The following morning we voiced our complaint to the innkeepers. Admittedly, sleep deprived and still stunned by the level of arrogance and lack of basic consideration, my voice was loud and direct. If the drunks were within earshot I wanted them to know what we thought of them.
David, the innkeeper wanted to be certain we understood that this wasn’t their fault. In fact, it seemed to us that was his only concern. We were told we should have come downstairs and rung their buzzer…in effect it was our responsibility to take charge of correcting the situation. He explained that he can sleep through just about anything. The party started Sunday afternoon. The group was well into their cups before anyone’s bedtime. Their kids were running amok and apparently the innkeeper didn’t notice any of that. Really? Is it so much to expect that management would have cautioned those folks to respect “quiet time” at some point?
Customer service starts and ends with happy customers. When a customer says they are unhappy it doesn’t help to become defensive and attempt to explain why it isn’t your fault.
If you have unruly kids and you’re looking for a place to get drunk and rowdy, these days the Metivier might just be a good place to stay.

We would like to take this time to apologize for the unpleasant stay at the Metivier Inn on Sept 29, 2013. We strive to ensure our patrons experience the best visits possible during their stay and we fell short of our goal this time. We apologize for the lack of sleep you experienced on your last night of your stay, before we turn in for the night we place a buzzer for the guest to use in case of an emergency and it's placed in our bedroom and we are able to hear it at anytime of the evening. Our apartment is located at the back of the house and we aren't able to hear any noise that comes from the front of the house during the night. Guests have used the buzzer to wake us up many times and we always come and assist them. Since you and your wife have been our guests for thirty years, we thought that you were aware of the buzzer at the front desk.
To prove to you that we take every complaint seriously, we have enclosed an invitation for a three night stay for two rooms. We hope you will enjoy your time with us in your next visit.

So happy to have stayed at Metivier Inn for our first experience on the island! Only located parallel to the main street with more activity, it had a surprising feel of an enchanting get-a-way. Lovely gardens, many outdoor sitting areas amongst flowers, beautiful lawns and front porch. Room had great wi-fi and a large flat screen. Even if hubby had them going I could still feel the charm of the room: light filled, exquisitely maintained, with lovely antique rose decor while sitting in one of the two alcove chairs. Many windows to view the horse drawn carriages and bicyclists drive by and take it the charming sounds of Mackinaw life. Bed was comfy and bath time felt luxurious. Perks were the ever present complimentary gourmet breads, fudge and light beverages available at all hours, sitting in front of the wood burning stove with the inn-keepers hearing about the island, eateries and history. They have many bikes to choose from for their guests and are easily accessed and maintained. Dave, Blanca and their employees are full of knowledge and were great fun to talk with. We even met people who we asked directions of, while bicycling, discovered we had mutual friends from another state and then surprisingly reacquainted ourselves in the lobby of the Inn - later that evening! Love experiences like these!

Three moms and four kids recently spent the weekend at the Metivier and had a delightful time. Dave and Blanca treated us like family and were very considerate when it came to our needs. We were in three separate rooms on the first floor where we could sit on the porch in the evening with a glass of wine, yet still listen for sleeping children.

The breakfast wasn't the typical B&B coffee and pastries. Dave cooks up a full breakfast complete with scrambled eggs, cinnamon raisin french toast and fruit. Much to our children's delight, fudge samples are available throughout the day.

The gardens are stunning with plenty of great locations for a game of hide and seek. We hope to make this an annual trip!

Room Tip: We were in room #4. I would have taken the bed and pillows with me!

This is a very nice little Inn with a great front porch for reading or people (or horse) watching. We enjoyed our one-night stay and would consider this Inn again for a future stay. We overslept after our long drive the day before, so we missed breakfast. We did have coffee, which was mediocre. Love the island and had a great time biking around.

We had a wonderful stay at this in. In the heart of Mackinac Island the inn is perfectly situated on the quieter of the two main streets in town. The grounds were gorgeous with flowers everywhere. Service was excellent, the front porch was a special place to watch the horse drawn "taxis" and deliveries. The rooms are a bit small but very nicely appointed and we'd stay here again in a heart beat. When we were ready to leave, they took our luggage to the ferry and off we went. Great place to relax and we did!

Room Tip: The bed in our room was a double. Ask for a larger bed if you need one.

We made reservations for the middle of June and had to change our dates as my husband had broken 3 toes two days before our trip. When we called to cancel and reschedule Blanca who is one of the managers stated that we should call back to reschedule and she would email us a confirmation that we could not make it in June. We never received the email. When we called back to reschedule we again spoke with Blanca who stated that we would have to pay an additonal fee. I stated that there was nothing in writing nor were we told that we would be charged an additonal fee and she promptly dropped this issue. She said that she had August 20th and the 21st available and we agreed. We arrived on the 20th around 1 p.m. and upon check in the gentleman who helped us said that we weren't on his list. After some searching he found that the reservation had been made for the 21st and 22nd of August. We were relieved that he was able to still accomadate us. He did carry our bags to our romm which was #7. I was
in shock when we opened the door as the room was so small that one had just enough room to
get around the bed. The bathroom shower was like a cheap camping trailer as it to was so small you could not turn around in it. The tv was so fuzzy that we didn't bother trying to watch it.
The only saving grace was the Breakfast on the 21st and the room was clean.
We paid $433.84 for the smallest room in the house. We will not be staying at the Metiver B&B again and would reccomend that the owners find another other than Blanca to assist people. Her people skills stink!

Room Tip: Ask for a decent size room.

We are very concerned about our guests experience at our Inn, and we wish we were given the opportunity to assist our guest with the problems that they experienced.
We were happy to change the dates of your stay from a June date to the date in August and we believed that you received the e-mails sent on June 9, 2013, June 16, 2013, July 22nd and August 20th and we kept the rate that was quoted for your stay starting August 21st. When you checked in you gave to our staff a copy of the confirmation that stated your arrival date on the 21st, seeing that the reservation started on the 21st and not the 20th you should have contacted us about the day that you wanted to arrive. Thankfully by chance there was a room available for your early arrival on the 20th.
We wish that you would have said something about your disappointment with your room we would have been able to move you to a room that would meet your approval.
At the time you made your reservation we require a 75% deposit and the remaining 25% was to be paid at the time of check-in. As we reviewed our records the amount that you paid as a deposit and the remaining due had never changed from the original reservation made in June.
Our guest satisfaction is of great concern to us and we regret that your stay was not totally enjoyable.
