My sister, cousins and I stayed a night in this hotel. We did not regret it. Great location and great service. They even gave us milk and cookies as part of a turndown service. It's a bit pricey but room was great. Jacuzzi tub was filthy but they have a hot tub outside so we used that instead. I would definitely stay here again.

Good staff; comfortable facilities, and good value on the island. Across from Doud's and next to the Arnold Line. Even locals claim they like to relax at the bar and enjoy the view after work. The Spartans didn't beat the Irish on the TV in the bar, but you can't blame the Chippewa for that.

This was our first trip to Mackinac Island and we wanted something special. We were going to stay at that other hotel, but we were only going to stay one night and they had a two night minimum. We booked with the Chippewa and it was a great experience from check-in through check-out. The suite was spacious, clean and had all the amenities. Plus a great viw of the harbor. After visiting that other hotel we realized that the Chippewa had all the amenities, a better price and the Pink Pony caters to a more fun crowd.

We were met by a young man as we got off the ferry. He claimed our luggage and delivered to our rooms. We walked on around the corner to the hotel. The hotel was reminiscent of a bygone era. We had two rooms on the 4th floor facing the street. The rooms were small, but were very charmingly decorated. The clopping of the horses added to the ambiance.
We ate dinner the first night in the dining room. The White fish was expertly prepared , as was the pasta. Breakfasts in the dining room was fantastic: Eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros.
We had dinner the 2nd night at the Pink Pony. They serve the same food in a more relaxed atmosphere. We also enjoyed Trivia Night.

Room Tip: Contrary to other reports, the horses don't keep you awake.

We've been staying at the "Chip" for nearly 20 years, but this was the first time we splurged and had a room on the water side. We've always been pleased with the quality of the service and the overall condition of the rooms we've had and this trip was no exception. This time however, we had a suite with a large bedroom and a separate large living room with a balcony overlooking the harbor and marina. The space was very nice, but the balcony and the view made the room worth the price. I did miss hearing the sound of the horses walking by, but we will do this again next year.
We've been using Sheppler's ferry and like the other ferry services, they promptly delivered our bags to the hotel. Unlike the others, Sheppler's is locally owned and operated.

Room Tip: The corner suites allow cross ventilation and broader views.

Our first visit to Mackinac Island and we are happy we got the waterfront suite. After a friendly bellhop met us at the ferry we walked from the Arnold ferry dock (close by). Our suite was spacious, inviting and comfortable with nautical décor. Our 4th floor suite had a large bedroom, bathroom and living area with cozy and relaxing furniture. Also the bonus of fridge and microwave. We were delighted with the view of the harbor and darling town. The staff is friendly, taking time to answer questions and visit while remaining professional.

Room Tip: Go in September – much less crowded. Request lake view on higher floor

We had 2 rooms for 1 night. 1 was a suite, 1 standard room. Nice decor. Could use a little updating. Clean, comfortable but nothing special. Except the view. We were on the waterfront, however this was directly above the pool and near the restaurant/bar. Since it was 2nd week of Septemeber and fairly cool, not much distraction but could be on warmer days.

Room Tip: Right next door to Arnold shuttle so use it to come/leave island. We used Sheplers and it was a lit...
