This is our most favorite hotel on the island. We always love to get back on the island early and often during the summer. Brian is the perfect host with his staff always waiting to help. Ask for a harbor view room. Great spot to enjoy morning coffee, watch the boats and freighters, etc. don't forget the punk pony we don't. Can't wait to get back in a couple of weeks.

My husband arranged this trip as a surprise for our 25th anniversary and this hotel was a perfect choice. It is located right next to the ferry landing and in close proximity to all things Mackinac. Our luggage was delivered to our room upon arrival and taken back to the ferry landing when we were ready to leave. Our room was a Harbor View King Suite and coffee on the balcony was one of our biggest pleasures. Room service was also wonderful. The Pink Pony Restaurant downstairs is worth a trip. I'd recommend this hotel in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony; it's so worth it!

Chippewa is a beautiful little old charm hotel on the waterfront next to the Ferry dock (easy to move luggage on rollers). The Pink Pony bar has live entertainment and is a great place to hang and watch the game. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We went in October and got lucky with the weather. Take your bike or rent one for a trip around the perimeter of the island. Take the horse drawn carriage for the tour of the center of the island through the park.

Room Tip: Our room was on the street side and was a good view. I am sure the waterfront rooms had a better vi...

As a professional writer, I very much enjoyed the three, two-night trips I took to Mackinac island this October to work on a book project and stay at the venerable Chippewa Hotel.

A long time fan of the island, I believe fall is the best season to visit. You pretty much have the place to yourself by late afternoon, and the biking this time of year, especially on the deserted up-island paths, is sublime.

i couldn't ask for more at the Chippewa. The staff was ready to serve, the harbor side suites I stayed in were well appointed and refined, and the Pink Pony Bar downstairs is the place to be to strike up a good conversation. My only complaint was that the Tigers lost two of the three games I watched in the bar.

Next year!

We stayed here for a long weekend in September and had a great time. The room was very clean and comfortable. We were on the street side and awoke every morning to the sounds of horses and wagon wheels. A real step back in time. The staff here are wonderful. The outdoor bar is a great place to sit and unwind in the evening while watching the ferries come and go. We will absolutely stay again.

We stayed in one of the waterfront suites (off-season splurge- was not such a big splurge!)- the view of the water was terrific- although off-season (the 3rd week in October) the marina was empty- kind of sad to look at.
Lay out of the suite is a little odd- you walk in through the bedroom- so its the living room that has the view- also the fresh air! Even though it was cool at night- we had to use the a.c. as the cool air doesn't make it back to the windowless bedroom.
Enjoyed the Pink Pony- sat outside even though it was a little cold.

We honeymooned here and it was an excellent place post nuptials! They treated us wonderfully and were hospitable to all of our requests. A great central location in the heart of it all! We can't wait to go back to celebrate our anniversaries!
