We've stayed at this hotel many times but this time we really lucked out and got one of the four most requested rooms in the hotel -- our suite opened onto the pool patio and boy was it worth it! Overlooking the pool and yacht harbor you really feel special in this hotel and we were only steps away from the outdoor bar and grill and outdoor seating of the famous Pink Pony bar! The beds were comfortable. The kids loved the heated pool and my wife and I enjoyed the very reasonably priced food and drinks ... we really didn't want to leave the hotel on this trip to Mackinac Island ... We'd take this historic but very clean and updated hotel any day over the island's other lodging options -- even the Grand Hotel! Can you tell we had a great time?

Room Tip: Request a suite on the waterfront side to make the trip extra special ...

It was a great experience as soon as you get off the Ferry. My wife and I took the star ferry to Mackinac Island, which is the farthest away of the three ferry lines from the hotel, and there was a porter there to take all of our bags to the hotel. The Arnold line is right next to the hotel FYI. Check in was a breeze and we made our way to our huge, beautiful suite.

The room was clean and was everything we were hoping for. I forgot to ask if this suite was on the water, it was thankfully, but make sure you ask when you book! The room had beautiful views of the marina and island, on the top floor, and the staff was very pleasant as well. Doud's market, the local grocery store, is right across the street as well which was very convenient! When we go back to Mackinac Island we will definitely stay here again.

We just stayed here for the 4th of July weekend and the hotel was a great place to stay! The room was very comfortable, clean and nice. The only downside was the elevator was small and only 2 of us could use it with our luggage. The staff was friendly. We may come back here again to stay on a future visit.

Room Tip: Rooms on 4th floor overlooking Main street, I think it was called a 2 Queen suite, was quiet and spacious for our family of 4!

From the minute you step back into time at the Chippewa, they make you feel at home. This place is always clean, beds are super comfortable, and the service is amazing. We've stayed at several hotels on the island and this is the best. I love the whirlpool and showers too. The pink pony food is awesome also!!!

The rooms were clean and the staff was incredibly helpful. The location is perfect - on Main Street but towards the end of the busy street. The view was awesome, even from the first level. There was quite a bit of noise since we were on the first level and the very first room on the end near the Pink Pony, so if you are looking for quiet, request a room on a higher level. Otherwise, this was an excellent choice for our stay!

Room Tip: First floor rooms are a little loud because of the Pink Pony and the pool.
