“Room with a view”

I'm in room 312 as I write this review. The staff is excellent the rooms are large and clean. The rooms with harbor view have great views… even better if you're on the 3rd or 4th floors. The quitter rooms have the larger numbers… hence my choice of 312 rather than 302. I have stayed here MANY times over the last 10 years. It's not a quiet hotel during boating weekends… be aware. I really enjoy this hotel.

Room Tip: Harbor view… hi numbers

This is our second year here. Last year we were in a small room and learned that the suites are the way to go. We stayed in room 416. Very comfortable stay. Room is equipped with a Keurig coffee maker, fridge and microwave which was great. Very roomy with a great view of water. Staff was very friendl as was maid service. Best part of this hotel is the Pink Pony which is great for a few adult beverages and great live music. Location is excellent and best of all you don't have to wear a suit and tie after 6 PM like that other pompous hotel on the island. Can't go wrong here.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 4th floor

We made a last-minute decision to visit Mackinac Island for our anniversary. We tried booking at the Grand, but no availability, so after a little research called the Chippewa and were glad to find room available on such short notice. Even better, we were given a discounted price. Our 2nd floor king suite facing the harbor was beyond our expectations, with large living room area and balcony with wicker chairs overlooking the lovely pool, marina and harbor. Furnishings were fresh and elegant, with 2 large-screen TVs. No noise at all, although we were there on a Sunday evening, so not sure if that made a difference. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, and we loved being right on Main Street.. Food was great, too, although would have preferred a less-casual setting for anniversary. We ended up at the Pink Pony and enjoyed the live entertainment. This will definitely be our place of choice upon our return!

Room Tip: Feel it's worth spending extra for a suite. Rooms facing the street are generally smaller.

We just got back from our second stay at the Chippewa Hotel for 3 nights. It has a great mix of old-world charm and modern amenities. The rooms are always clean and fresh, and the housekeeping staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The luggage transfer is awesome, and the individuals that work this system are very fast and personable.

Although we were directly over the bar on the second floor, the live music wasn't too loud. As a matter of fact, since we were on the second floor, my wife and I decided to enjoy the live music one night as the kids slept in the room (we had a baby monitor just in case).

The hotel is ideally located for families, since it's kitty corner from the big lawn in front of the fort. The kids love to play on the stairs at the statue of Père Jacques Marquette, and the little playground east of the lawn. Also, it's right across the street from the grocery store and Alford's convenience store, so anything you'd need for your stay is right there.

The Pink Pony restaurant beneath the hotel has excellent food and great live music at night. We got the breakfast vouchers for each day we stayed. Their breakfast is excellent. We also got their spa package, which my wife thoroughly enjoyed. The spa is located in their sister hotel, the Lilac Tree Hotel & Spa.

Really, our only complaint was that the bathtub drain didn't work, but we improvised.

Room Tip: I hear the rooms that open up to the jacuzzi are great. Our room was 213, which is above the bar on...

First time on Mackinac Island and the hotel was in a great location to get to everything. Even though we specified we wanted a room farthest from the bar/restaurant we were given a room directly over the restaurant but it ended up not being that big a deal. The hotel is next to the fort and the dock so you hear the hourly cannon salvo and ferry honking so if you are sensitive to noise you should probably stay farther down the block or out on the bluff. The porter was there to meet us at the dock to collect our luggage as promised and the room was excellent for the three of us. They also held our luggage after we checked out so we could do one final tour before leaving. Only real hiccup was housekeeping did not leave extra toilet paper the last night so we ran out the next morning....I get you can miss something once in a awhile but tp is a pretty basic thing that shouldn't be overlooked.

Just returned from a two night stay at this hotel. Our family of six had plenty of room with three queen beds to sleep in. The luggage transfer from the island shuttle to the hotel was great! We were fortunate to have a room on the second floor and never had to use the elevator. The staff were very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Our location made us feel everything was at our doorstep. The hotel restaurant was excellent.

We really enjoyed just sitting on our own balcony with a terrific view. It was our third time to the island, but the first time staying on the island. A perfect memory for all of us. I would recommend this hotel for anyone from singles, couples to families.

Room Tip: Book early!
