My sisters and I don't get together too often so we decided to gather in Michigan and drive to Mackinac Island. We were not disappointed at all. The room was bright and clean and right on the water. We knew the noise level might be loud and our room was above the hot tub but it was not a problem at all, in fact, we enjoyed everthing about the hotel. The staff at the hotel and the Pink Pony were fabulous. All in all we had a good time and no complaints. Would absolutely recomment the Chippewa to friends.

We stayed at the Chippewa from August 22 through the 25th. We had room 302 on the fort end of the hotel. The room had a separate bedroom from the sitting room. The sitting room was large and had a flat screen TV, microwave and a mini refrigerator. The room was very nice, clean and plenty of closet and drawer space. Yes the floor creaked upstairs and when we walked on our floor as well. But it is an old building and the creaks were not bothersome. The balcony looked out over the marina and the area where the Arnold ferry boat docks. Arnold ferry is closest to the Chippewa. We were on the opposite end from the Pink Pony and were not bothered by any noise from the deck or the lounge. The deck was not open real late on the nights we were there.

The location is great. It is right at the end of the downtown area. It is at the foot of the fort and across from the grocery store. The downtown area is small and you can walk "clear" to the other end in 10 minutes.

We ate at the hotel on the deck overlooking the water for breakfast. Food was nice but not spectacular. Their pancakes are better than the pancake restaurant in the same building. Service was good and price was reasonable.

The days we were there the weather was gorgeous so we really did not spend a lot of time in our room. But we felt the room was fairly priced and met our expectations.

This hotel has a lot of nice amenities including their Pink Pony restaurant, cleanliness, and waterfront location. We checked the reviews before booking our reservation and were warned about the noise level due to their live music. Therefore, we called and requested the third floor as a quieter location. Although they did not guarantee they did make note of our request but ..what a surprise.. when we arrived the only floor available was the 2nd floor. WELL, just when we were getting to sleep the floor below us started rocking and vibrating with their music. IT WAS NOT PLEASANT AND WENT ON UNTIL 2! YOU COULD EVEN HEAR THE WORDS TO THE SONGS. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU ARE NOT RIGHT ABOVE THE MUSIC.
Another guest was at the front desk when we checked out and was demanding to be moved from the 2nd floor to the 4th which they were accomodating. I do feel guests should be warned at check in about the music-you cannot sleep through the noise-very unfair for the price.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Chippewa hotel on Mackinaw Island, and are definitely looking forward to going back again! At the reception we were treated like VIPs, and when we arrived at our room, the views from the balcony were amazing. Our room was on the 4th floor, looking out over the harbor, and the balcony was the perfect place to sit and eat fudge! Our room was quiet, clean, comfortable and spacious, with two large beds, a nice sized bathroom w/ great shower head, a nicely decorated living room with a sofa, refrigerator, sink, and a very cool coffee table that looked like an oversized snow-sled! Fresh flowers and other nice touches like cookies and milk delivered to the door in the evening, were additional highlights that really made us feel welcome.

The location of the hotel was very convenient, at the one end of the main street, right across from a very nice grocery store, and a lovely grassy park at the base of the fort. The hot-tub with a waterfall was one of the biggest ones I have ever seen, and the wireless internet was free, fast and easy to connect to. We ate in their restaurant two times, the food was amazing, as was the service and the views out over the harbor. We had the warm white-fish dip appetizer that I would highly recommend!

Staying in this hotel seemed like staying in a little piece of history that has been carefully renovated with a touch of flair. It is well maintained and the location is perfect!

We definitely look forward to staying there again on our next visit to Mackinaw Island!

After reading many reiviews of all the hotels on Mackinac Island we decided to try the Chippewa. My spouse and I traveled with our seven year old daughter. My only concern was some of the reviews complained about late night noise coming from the Pink Pony bar. When I called for my reservation, I mentioned this concern and the very friendly lady made sure our room was at the other end of the hotel. We stayed in a room with one double and one single bed. It was plenty big enough for all of us. I can't say enough nice things about this hotel. The location was great, the hot tub was wonderful and I just loved the whole atmosphere of the entrie hotel. My one and only complaint was that they never called us to let us know that our room was ready. It would have been nice to get in our room a little earlier.
