We got there about 3 hours earlier than check-in and without me even asking, they told me my room was available. Very comfortable room for 5 people. Nice robes in closet, nice keurig coffee maker. Water and coffee in the lobby 24 hours.

Room Tip: the room has 3 queen size beds with one being private...we had 2 couples and 1 single and it worked...

This was one of the nicest Hotels I have stayed in. It was very close(walking distance just a couple blocks)to the ferry port after we arrived on the island. Our luggage was delivered shortly after we got to our room. The Lilac was very clean, the beds were very comfortable, I liked hearing the horse & carriages go by but it was very quiet even so. They came in and put our bed down and left little chocolate treats for us, nice touch! We could just go downstairs(we were on the 2nd floor with a balcony suite)and walk immediately to all the shops in town. Loved being able to walk out on the balcony and sit and enjoy the town life scenery. We had 5 adults and got 2 free Breakfast Meal tickets for booking in June 2014. We bought the other 3-$10 Breakfast tickets for the "Pink Pony" and I am glad we did because it did save us probably$3-$4 each person(every little bit helps). The Pink Pony was nice just a couple blocks away with a great view and the food was good. We ate dinner there also on the same day we arrived, the whitefish sandwich was very good, 4 of us ordered it:) We had a wonderful stay even though it was only for 1 night. I would definitely recommend "The Lilac" and I would stay there again when I can afford it for sure:) ($300/night)Thanks again, see you next time.

Very nice room/suite. Love the layout, with a nice large living space that opens to the balcony. We paid the higher rate to have a room with a Lake Huron view balcony, plus overlooking Main Street. But our view was disappointing as Lake Huron only visible through a gap/space between two buildings. That cost them a perfect review score. I should have asked for a reduced rate, or to be moved to a better viewing room. Another minor downer is the lack of an on-sight breakfast either. But our balcony perch was wonderful and much used. Morning coffee, evening toddies, and people watching in between. Even busy street noise not bad through closed door. Besides a great balcony, and awesome spa tub, the service was outstanding. Both Front desk persons Chelsea and Megan went beyond expectations to make our stay special. Chelsea surprised us with a handwritten card and a small box of hand dipped chocolates to celebrate a special event. Both Chelsea and Megan helped in planning our activities and directed us where the best food and drink (at reasonable prices) were located. Bag man Jason was wonderful in delivering our heavy bags from ferry docks to our room, and in taking them back to docks for our return trip. Please ask for him by name and tip well. Housekeeping was very attentive, efficient, and most curtious and polite. Our bed was turned down every evening and provided lots of fresh towels. Deserving of another generous tip. I cannot rate the service high enough. Extremely pleased with my two night stay. Looking forward to a return stay here; perhaps for a full week, with hopefully a balcony room with a better lake view.

Room Tip: If paying for a lake view, balcony room, ask for one on the top floor. It may not have the bed conf...

This hotel is located in the heart of the action on Main Street. When you leave the hotel you have immediate access to shops and restaurants within minimal walking distance. We had one of the balcony suites, and you could hear the hoofs of the horses walking down the street at all times of the day, from early morning to twilight. The view from the balcony was beautiful, and you could see a portion of Lake Huron. The room was clean, spacious, and the staff was courteous and helpful. On our return to the hotel after dinner we would find our beds turned down with mints on the pillows. In all, the staff did their best to make you feel like you were the most important guest there. The hotel is not cheap, but if you're looking for the best place to stay, I would recommend Lilac Tree. The location is better than the Grand Hotel's.

Room Tip: Only the suites have balconies. The interior rooms are less expensive, though. Also, go before the...

Stayed here (again) on May 18th. This is a great hotel. It has the old world charm of Mackinac Island. It also has a great spa, so treat yourself. I do every time I stay there. Great staff. We had a slight problem this time, but was resolved right away. Loved the views of the water and main street from the balcony.

Room Tip: Get a balcony suite if you can. Great views of the water and main street.

Stayed one night and enjoyed very spacious and well appointed room. Great location in the middle of the best retail shops on the Island. I left my eye glasses in room and they were very diligent in locating them and shipping them to me. Everyone was very helpful in the process. Nice staying where people really do care.
