Cottage Inn of Mackinac Island

Don and Virginia were gracious hosts. We felt like guests in their home! The location is excellent; within walking distance to everything and very quiet. We also enjoyed chatting with other guests over breakfast and the "sweet treats" served in the afternoon. We would highly recommend it.

The Cottage Inn was a very lovely place and I would highly recommend it. The breakfast was wonderful, and the inn had a great location on Market street where it was very quiet. The owners were welcoming and the rooms were very comfortable and in great condition.

We arrived on the island after getting off the plane (no boats were running due to Ice conditions). We called and let them know that we were on our way. It was late in the day, and I expected that the keys would be waiting for us at the front desk. Nope Virginia and Don were there waiting for us. Which was very nice. Then morning came and Don cooked up a breakfast that would make most chefs jealous. And we sat and talked for a bit. But the next morning Virginia cooked up a masterpiece. Virginia and Don were very nice and courteous. They really made us feel at home (without all the work). The Inn is very clean and quiet. If you are staying on the island this is the place to stay. We have been coming up here for 8+ years and this is the best so far.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are very nice. They also have Suites if you need a few more beds.

Four couples May 2 and 3rd 2014. Don and Virginia were wonderful hosts. Very warm and friendly with a wealth of knowledge about the island. Breakfast was tasty with plenty for all! Each room was unique and charming. It was nice being just off Lakeshore yet close enough that everything is at your fingertips. One minute walk to all the shops, restaurants and bars. We enjoyed the new relationships formed while staying at the Cottage Inn. Would go back there in a heartbeat!!

Room Tip: No fitness center or swimming pool. Wasn't an issue for us.

As the trip planner for a group of 14 women, I found The Cottage Inn to be perfect for our group. From the easy planning with Rich and Marge to the comfy beds, pillows and linens to the absolutely delicious breakfast, The Cottage Inn was awesome! Our diverse group was very pleased with our accommodations and we will definitely be coming back on a future trip!

After staying here several times at the Cottage Inn, I can assure anyone that is considering booking a room there that you are in for a treat. The inn in very charming and yet has modern conveniences. The floors don't creak so it is very quiet in the rooms. The furnishings and fixtures are very nice. I love the Victorian Turret room. The innkeepers (Marge and Rich) are an absolute treasure. They work very hard to keep the inn tidy and well managed. Breakfast is provided which is a financial bonus. Even though I know the island fairly well, I have witnessed them helping guests who have questions. Marge and Rich have been a fantastic innkeepers!

My fiance and I stayed at Cottage Inn for the New Years week. The stay was absolutely fantastic. Rich and Marge are so caring for their beautiful inn. The breakfast is simple but delicious. The rooms may be on the small size, but they don't need to be any bigger to be comfortable. The rooms are also very clean and the beds are so comfortable. This was our second stay at the inn and we plan on staying here again this coming summer.

For New Years on Mackinac, very little is open. There are only a few places to stay and only one restaurant serves breakfast, so I really wanted to stay at a inn that had breakfast. Also, when staying in the winter, it is hard to get around as a tourist, so staying at Cottage inn, you are in prime location.

We hope to come back for New Years next year, and we will hopefully be staying here again!

Room Tip: It gets a little loud on the first floor at about 8 am due to breakfast.
