Yes, It is out of the way. The view of the bridge is priceless. The walk to the Point is an added bonus at sunset. It was our 40th wedding anniversary and anyone looking for privacy and time to reconnect, this is the place. We stayed in the Manor and will the next time we return.

We ate at the restaurant[Cudahy Chophouse] and were pleased. The Woods Restaurant next is excellent as well. Being away from the nightlife of downtown has its pluses.

After staying at Stonecliffe I won't stay anywhere else on the Island! Service is attentive. Food is some of the best on the Island. The bluff is like a private world but town is easily accessible. Rooms are charming ,comfortable and affordable!
Our annual summer stay has become a new family tradition!

Room Tip: I enjoy the Summer House. AC & cable

Their location is far from busy bustling downtown and if you want seclusion and quiet, this is your place. The staff were prompt in answering emails/ requests; however, when we got there, nothing in our requests were done at all. On our arrival, the staff did not have access to these requests. We purchased a family package which includes bikes and food for picnic. When these ammenities were not available, we weren't offered other options. Everyday is a different story with their staff. They are so incompetent. We were aggravated each day and spoiled our whole getaway. Their rooms are dated and not soundproof. You could actually hear conversations in the hallway while you're on bed. There was a wedding in the lawn with music so loud that we can't go to sleep. We paid a premium for an unpleasant stay. What a rip off.

Two Star Service for Five Star Prices‎‎ The remote location, view of the bridge and fine dining brought us to The Inn at Stonecliffe this picture perfect Fall weekend. We even opted to treat ourselves to the Sweetheart Package. Chocolate covered strawberries greeted us upon arrival, but even though there was a refrigerator in the room, a note next to the strawberries informed us we would have to come back down to the desk to pick up our bottle of chilled champagne. Flowers later appeared while we were out of the room for dinner. How much nicer it would have been if all three romantic touches had greeted us upon arrival as promised. Unfortunately our 'deluxe' room was right next to the elevator in The Summer House, and there was a wedding at the Inn this weekend. We were awakened every time someone got on or off the elevator. For some people a sign in the elevator reminding them to keep their voices down might be beneficial. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed our deck with a view of the bridge but the king sized bed was cheap and our veluxe blankets looked like they had been gnawed by rats. We were never informed by Inn staff that breakfast was included during our stay, but a quick re-check of the Inn's website alerted me. The buffet breakfast is superb if you go early, but if you sleep in, you may find the selection sparse. If the dining room is boisterous, as it was during our stay, you can ask for to-go containers and enjoy your breakfast on your deck or in the privacy of your room. We chose the Prix Fixe dinner two differet evenings. Both times the food was exceptional and our server Mike was exemplary. Our carriage ride with Linda was superb. We would recommend scheduling the carriage ride your first evening at the Inn rather than waiting until the last evening like we did. She showed us some off-the-beaten-path roads that would have been nice to explore on our bicycles. The evening before our departure we stopped at the desk to make transportation arrangements for the following morning. It is at this time that we were informed that the hotel shuttle was no longer running. When we explained that we had bicycles we needed to ride to the docks, we were also informed that the taxi service does not take unattended luggage. Desk personnel at first implied that it was up to us to work it out but after pushing them we were told if we had our luggage at the front door by 7:15 a.m. a hotel employee would accompany our luggage into town. We set our alarm for 6:30, took our luggage to the front door as instructed, and were then informed that there was no one at the dock to receive the luggage until 9:00 a.m. We called and ordered a personal taxi for 9:00 a.m. When the taxi arrived the driver informed us she could not take unattended luggage. We offered to pay for two adult fares and follow the taxi on our bicycles. Other guests on the same taxi offered to 'attend' our luggage. After a futile discussion with the taxi dispatcher, I rode the taxi to escort our luggage and my husband walked two bicycles two miles into town. The taxi service said the hotel should provide porter service. The hotel blamed the taxi service for canceling the hotel shuttle without notice. We were caught in the middle with no one taking responsibility and the burden resting on us to get ourselves and our belongings to the ferry. This was not the way we expected to be treated after spending $1200 for a 3 day weekend! But I can assure you, we will never return to The Inn at Stonecliffe and we will share the story of our inhospitable treatment to anyone contemplating a trip to the island.

My husband and I frequently visit Mackinac Island. We like to run on the island because there is no traffic or pollution. When we made our reservation at the Inn at Stonecliffe, they did not inform us there was a wedding booked for the same weekend. The tent in which the party took place was located right under our room's windows. If we had known, we would have tried this Inn on another visit. We did get our long run in and came back to the room exhausted. The wedding party stopped close to 10 PM but it was 11:30 before the kitchen door stopped slamming. It was directly under our bed. Bright and early at 7 AM, the day kitchen staff arrived and started slamming doors again. I hope others have a better experience.

Several of us couples stayed at the Inn for a wedding and it was fanastic. My wife and I stayed at the mansion in the Jardin room. The room was large with a great view of the huge front yard. The Breakfast (included) was delicious. Hot food as well as cold selection. The hotel bar drinks were very expensive (7.99 for a Gin/Tonic, 5.00 for a Heineken).

If you are going to stay here and go downtown many times, bring lots of cash for the carriage rides. $6.75 per person plus tips really adds up. It is 30 minutes to walk downtown, and 40 minutes to walk back up. 2 mile-walk into town down hill, and the same up hill. Watch where you are walking. The streets are lined with horse urine and feces. I had my fill of horses and the smell after 3 days on this island.

There is not a lot to do on the island besides get away, take walks, and go into shoppes. The island is nicely nestled away from society, but downtown is crazy. The Inn at Stonecliffe is perfect if you want to be away from town.

We had dinner at the Pink Pony, it was delicious food. We had lunch at Mary's Bistro, it was fantastic as well.

If you stay at the mansion at Stonecliffe, it is a bit noisy. You can hear doors slamming and horses clomping up the pathway. But if a little noise does not bother you, then it will be fine.

What a pleasant surprise. The Inn is a real treasure. We had wonderful rooms in the summer house, swimming pool with bar and snacks (very rare on the island), bike rentals, and a world-class restaurant. The wait staff was very friendly and most accomodating. Only one compaint and that is the manager did not thank us for our 7 day stay upon checkout.. Those four words "Thank You, Come Again" took this review from a 5 score to a 4.
