Stayed here two nights in May. Opted for a king suite. Nice big room with a comfortable king bed, fridge, microwave, living room and a balcony with harbor view. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nightly turn down service with a little piece of fudge. Luggage showed up from the dock within 20 minutes. The only negative comment I have is the reservation process. They only take reservations by phone??? So on the first day they started taking 2014 reservations, I had to call about 30 times and after 29 busy signals I finally got through. There has got to be a better way.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 209 worth the extra money

On our first trip to Mackinac Island we stayed at the Main Street Inn and Suites based on the number of positive reviews, and we were not disappointed. Our luggage was brought from the ferry directly to our room by a friendly and helpful staff member (Arnie). All of the suites were booked, but we were very pleased with our quiet, clean and very comfortable standard room. We enjoyed the little perks, like the sitting room and billiard table just down the hall, the turn-down service, the fudge samples, and the lemon flavored ice water by the elevator. The desk clerk was very helpful, and we used the coupon for a free appetizer at the Pink Pony. We would stay here again.

We booked this room for a short get away that was with my childs class field trip to mackinaw city. We loved the room and a great deal. Rooms were good size for rooms on the island. We had free fudge and a place to store our bike. We loved our time here.

We booked this hotel for 3 nights based on the reviews and were not disappointed. We did pop for a 1 bedroom suite with a balcony and it was so worth the money. The décor was beautiful and the suite very comfortable. The beds were terrific and I am fussy about my bed. The living space was large with a large TV, couch and 2 comfortable chairs. There is also a small refrigerator and microwave which is great. The weather was not the best when we went, but having a suite and being able to look out on Main Street made the trip very enjoyable. The staff is so accommodating and nice, and every night the housemaid comes by for turn-down and a small box of fudge. We even got a coupon for a free 1/2 pound of fudge during check-out. It is for Joann's Fudge right downstairs (nice and convenient). The walls are a tad thin, but they do have rules for noise and we were really bothered. There was a slight buzzing near the sink area (which is outside of the shower and toilet) and they suggested I try turning off the heat (yes, we did have the heat on at times) but it did not help. It wasn't bad enough to report again but probably should be looked at. Without a doubt, we would stay there again and I highly recommend it. We also toured the Grand Hotel which I don't think is worth the money to look around, but the Fort was very impressive and educational. There are also many paths to walk and we went to the Arch. It was a little cool to rent a bike, but many folks did. Had a terrific meal at Goodfellow's (but pricey), Also had a good breakfast at Pink Pony, but the waitress (Nikki?) made it even more enjoyable.

Room Tip: 307 without a doubt.

I can't say enough about the staff of this hotel! My girlfriend and I stay for three nights in May and it was the best experience I've had in a long time. The girls at the front desk were very helpful with any of our questions and offered up plenty of things to do on the island. At one point when the front desk couldn't get a straight answer from a taxi dispatcher on the phone she went out into the rain to ask one on the street! Now that's service!
Another plus for this hotel is its location to the Shelper dock. We had plenty of luggage and even two bikes and we were able to walk the 300ft or so to our hotel unaided, that's how close it is. Also from our balcony we could look at how busy the ferry was at any given time with just a peek out the window :)
A bonus staying at this hotel is that you get a small piece of chocolate fudge at the end of the night with your turn down service. Which is great after a long day of bike riding on the island.
Again, great service, great location and after looking at all the options after arriving on the island we wouldn't go anywhere else!
Happy Trails

My husband and I spent three nights here for our 1 year wedding anniversary trip. He had been to the island before, but this was my first trip. We will never stay anywhere besides Main Street Inn! The staff was the friendliest I've ever come across. The turn down service and fudge delivery in the evening was such a nice touch. The view from the one bedroom suite (Room 209) was the best part. We had a view of the Shepler's ferries coming in, as well as all of Main Street. Our favorite part of each day we were there was sitting on our balcony in the evening, listening to the horses walk by. We're already planning a trip back in the fall. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for one of the suites facing Main Street.

Rated number one on Trip Advisor is well deserved. So convenient to ferries. Check in was so pleasant and the desk staff was gracious, helpful and just enjoyable to be around. Very clean, very quiet, comfortable, turn down and chocolate was special. We will recommend to anyone coming to the island to try for Main Street Inn and Suites. Just as we were I don't think you will be disappointed.

Room Tip: Suite 209 was great
