“Perfect B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

This was a wonderful place to stay! Kristin greeted us upon arrival and was so cheerful and helpful. She and her staff are a great asset! She gave us passes to The Grand Hotel, Butterfly House, recommended restaurants. She is very knowledgeable about the whole island which is so helpful to first time visitors. Our room was very nice and quiet. The bed was so comfortable with its down topper; also very clean. We had breakfast in the garden area which was delicious. The muffin was delicious which Kristin had recommended. Can't wait until we can come visit the island and this B&B again!

What are the two most important aspects to a bed and breakfast? Well the bed and the breakfast of course!

1. The bed:
If there weren't so many activities we wanted to accomplish on our short stay on the island, I might not have left the bed, ever. It was just the right amount of soft and fluffy for an amazing sleep. (Well until about 6am when, at least in room
#2, the sun welcomes you with a fury.)
2. The breakfast:
Delicious and served to you (according to your pre-order the day before) at any time between 8-9:30 in the parlor, back patio, or in your room. Our room was a little small I'm not sure how breakfast would have worked in there, and we opted for breakfast on the patio both mornings.

Other than the obvious positives I've mentioned above, you have Kristen and staff at the market street inn who have literally "thought of everything their guests might need". There is hot tea available 24/7 in the parlor. There are things like picnic blankets, coolers, wine glasses, etc. that you might need to enjoy your trip but would never want to pack (especially on a island that you have to leave your car behind.) Kristen is so kind and helpful, her recommendations of bike trails and restaurants helped to greatly improve our overall experience on the island.

I can't recommend this place enough. Overall extremely positive experience!

The wife and I stayed here for three days in August of 2013. Kristin went out of her way to make sure our stay was memorable! We arrived at 9:30 in the morning and they got on our room so we could get settled in. The breakfast is delivered to you in your room, stud garden, or living room. Long story short....I would recommend this little Gem to anyone!!!

This is a great B&B!! We always use B&Bs for our travels domestic and international. This is definately on the top fave list. Its off the main street so it's quiet and cozy, but very near everything! Kristen and the staff are warm, kind, and pleasant. It's obvious they enjoy what they do! The place is clean, neat and in good decorating taste! There are many places to relax and read/rest, right at the house. The back garden is surrounded with bushes and flowers and makes you feel away from the crowd and peaceful! The breakfast was plenty to start the day (I love breakfast!!) and the coffee was great!
The parlor was great with teas, coffee, and water all day. There is also a fridge for storing food/snacks you may pick up from the corner grocer. There is also a bike rack fenced in the back yard to store the bikes, if you bring your own to use on the island. They really had all the conveniences we needed while enjoying the island.
One nice EXTRA was that Kristen (InnKeeper) allowed us to keep the INN as our "homebase" even after we checked out in the morning on our day to leave. WE were able to still rest there, enjoy the open areas, facilities, drink station and fridge. She also allowed our bikes to stay there and our luggage!!! This was a huge help, as it's nice to stay on the island for the day, after you check out at 11am. If you travel often, you know how cumbersome luggage, etc. can be if you have to lug it around a town all day!
You will not be disappointed in this cozy gem!!! (and we are very picky about our lodging, good service, good coffee, peaceful rest and ambiance - this place nailed it all!!!)

Girlfriends traveling together to celebrate birthdays. We had four rooms for three nights during lilac festival. Inn is at terrific location with easy access to everything. Can eat breakfast on front porch and watch the tour wagons go by. Kristen and Tami were the best! They made sure our stay was wonderful.

Room Tip: Rooms facing street are noisy if you like to sleep with windows open. Running air conditioner to blo...

Let me explain, our stay was for 3 nights: the staff was very nice, the bed very comfortable, breakfasts were offered: delivered to your room, parlor or outdoor patio, cookies & fudge daily with tea etc anytime you wanted it, was a nice touch! So, I am sure you are wondering what was the problem then? Well, for about $180+ a night, our room (#6) was small, shower was small (my husband is 6'2" with a broad chest), and the breakfast well, I am not sure if this is the going trend, but there was nothing special about it! a yogurt parfait, ONE boiled egg (if you wanted it), juice, coffee or tea, and a CHOICE of a toasted bagel, cinnamon roll or muffin (fresh from the local bakery I was told), each morning nothing different from day to day. What happened to the gourmet breakfasts that used to be served at B&B's that made them stand out above going the motels, hotels or inns? Is this a going trend? (the B&B before this one we stayed at in Nova Scotia offered pancakes 3 days in a row (third day served cold!)) Mackinac Island has so many beautiful inns & hotels, my suggestion is try them first!

I am sorry your overall stay with us was not to your expectations. Although our breakfasts are not the traditional B&B breakfast, we strive to provide more than just a continental breakfast. We hope that we offer a breakfast that most of our guests will enjoy. Our guests select daily from the menu with a choice options. We offer freshly cut seasonal fruit or a Greek yogurt fruit parfait. We also support our local island bakery by each morning picking up cinnamon rolls and their popular oatmeal raspberry muffins. In addition, we serve juices, hard-boiled eggs for protein, bagels, and a hot beverage choice.
In the situation you had, room 6 was the only one available for the dates you chose. We are sorry you did not enjoy the room. We do show photos of the rooms on our website.

Excellent is the best word to describe the Market Street Inn. From the rooms to the delicious breakfasts, to the personal attention by Kristen everything was first rate. My mother, aunt and uncle and I spent 3 wonderful nights here in late May. Kristen was wonderful. My Mom had brought her travel pillow with her but was unable to repack it to bring home so she was resolve to leaving it behind. A few days after we returned I found a box on the porch. Kristen had been so kind and sent it back to her. If you are looking for a place to just relax and enjoy your self on Mackinac I would highly recommend the Market Street Inn.

Room Tip: If you can try to get the Garden Suite the extra room and private entrance are a bonus. It was plent...
