I had the perch basket and my wife had the white fish. We really enjoyed the coleslaw as it had raisins and pear in it. The reason for only giving four stars is we had to ask every time for a refill on our drinks.

Thank you so much for the review. Our Perch dinner is a great seller and we are glad you enjoyed it. Our House Slaw is the Chef's version of a Caribbean Slaw. It is a pineapple juice base with raisins. We are happy to hear you liked it so much. We are very sorry that you had to ask for refills. A guest should never, ever have to ask for a refill. I will discuss this with the staff for future guests. Thank you so much for your review and we hope you visit us again on your next trip.

The Village Inn, although not the same before Grand Hotel took over, still offers decent fare. The best part is that it isn't right on the Main Street, so it isn't as busy as some of the other places. We didn't have to wait for a table. Prices are comparable to other places on the island. It has average food, but is worth the stop.

Thank you very much for your review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed everything. I'm not exactly sure what went wrong to give 3 stars since you didn't specify. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay and please visit us again on your next trip.

We always look forward to our summer visits on Mackinac and the planked white fish at the Inn. This restaurant is just not the same since the Grand took it over. I have never seen it so quiet. I would love to see it updated and given some TLC! This is our last visit.

Thank you very much for your review. We are not really sure what you think is "Not the same" about our restaurant? There are days the island is quieter than others. You may have come in between 3-6pm and that is the slowest time of any restaurant on the island. As for TLC, we have put many dollars along with countless hours to bring the quality of ambiance back into Cawthorne's Village Inn. We put new wallpaper, new carpet, new booths, new bar top, new bar coolers, new sinks, new patio tables and chairs, new televisions, All New Kitchen appliances and much more. We can't really give it any more TLC than we already did. Again, thank you for your review.

For years, this was our destination restaurant on the island. Their bruschetta was untouchable and they offered heart-healthy alternatives which are rare on the island. When the Cawthornes sold the restaurant to the Grand Hotel, the menu changed. The food is good but it's island restaurant food. Don't expect to find anything gourmet, but don't expect to find anything healthy. Since it changed hands, we have been there twice. Now, we simply walk by on our way to our B&B.

Thank you for taking time to write a review. We are very sorry to hear that you think our quality went down when Grand Hotel took over. Actually quite the opposite happened. The quality of product went up dramatically. It appears that because the heart smart whitefish and bruchetta are not on the menu anymore you think our quality went down. Bruchetta was not a very big seller and that is why we took it off. You may have loved it but not everyone else ordered it. As for the Heart Smart Whitefish, we would have gladly made it for you. We do it all of the time. The Blackened Whitefish sandwich is our very best selling sandwich and that is on the menu. The Heart Smart Whitefish is simply the Blackened without a bun and broiled instead of blackened. If you would have asked about it we would have gladly made it that way for you. We do this for many of our guests that request it. Again thank you for taking time to review.

Excellent grilled whitefish served on a large wood plank with potatoes. $3 beer drafts. Perch was great as well. Nice seating on the porch with view of the town.

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our Signature dish the "Planked Whitefish". We sell hundreds a week this time of year. The $3 Oberon is the best you will find on the island anywhere. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and we hope you visit us again on your next trip.
