We stayed at the Residence Inn Detroit Troy for 4 nights, in a bi-level suite. It was about a 20 or 30 minute drive to the Cobo Center, depending on traffic. The suite was cute. It had a queen bed and bathroom in an upstairs loft area. On the first floor there was a Murphy bed, a sofa in the living room area, a second bathroom, and a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, a range (cooktop and oven), and a microwave oven. Overall it was quite clean and pleasant. But there were a few things that could use improving: 1) the thermostat for the a.c. is downstairs only, and the downstairs tends to get much colder than upstairs; we found the upstairs to be a little too warm to be comfortable, but didn't want to make it too cold for the person sleeping downstairs -- so you might want to bring a small portable fan to help cool off the upstairs; 2) there is quite bit of street noise (especially if you open the window to try to cool off the loft) -- so you might want to bring some earplugs; 3) the kitchen area was clean but not spotless - I had to scrub the counter well before cooking because there was food crud on it, which is unacceptable when you're traveling with a child with food allergies; 4) the upstairs toilet clogged late one night, and when I went to the front desk to get a plunger the clerk told me they had none; I've never stayed at a hotel that doesn't have at least one toilet plunger for guests to use, or a Maintenance person on staff to come to the room -- so you might want to bring along a plunger.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our hotel. We are pleased that you had an enjoyable time with us. I would like to thank you for pointing out some of your concerns as it helps us to further enhance the stays for future guests. 1) I apologize that the thermostat was in an acquired location. I would suggest turning the ceiling fan on in the living room, it helps to circulate the air in the room and get the cool air up top. 2) We hope with the new siding that we are getting on the building it will help reduce any noise that you can hear from the outside. With the siding being removed at the moment, there is no barrier for the outside noise. 3) I have shared and addressed this issue with my executive housekeeper; it is not common practice and will not be a future problem. 4) I will retrain the staff on the location of the plumbers. We do have them on hand, they just couldn't locate it.
Thank you again for taking the time to review our hotel, we hope to see you again when your travels bring you back to the Detroit/Troy area. Regards, Justin

We are gold Reward Marriott members and decided to stay at this Residence Inn because of the location. It is an older property, however the appliances, furniture, linens etc are updated. Our suite was big and clean, the breakfast selection was good, and the staff professional and friendly. When our travels take us back to the Troy/Madison Heights area we will stay again at this Marriott Residence Inn.

I'm not a frequent guest at extended stay hotels so I can't comment on how this compares to others. We stayed here for three nights and were interested in this type of hotel because we liked the idea of having our own space to cook as well as a spot to spend a night in watching a movie. Also, the cost was about the same as other hotels which did not have the "apartment" style room. I didn't realize when I booked that the suites were in not all part of one building but were rather in 'pods' with each suite having a private entrance.

Each time I interacted with the staff I found them to be friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice and well tended each morning. The room was clean and featured all of the promised amenities in perfect order. I would definitely stay here again.

I greatly enjoyed my experience at this residence inn. The rooms were very well kept and the staff was nothing but friendly. Breakfast was hot and delicious every day and the times I ate dinner at the hotel I left feeling satisfied. I would recommend staying here to any friends or family.

I stayed here for the first time during a work tour. I was there for a month. The staff was welcoming and were always willing to go the extra mile to make me feel at home. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area on business or just visiting. The rooms are big and appliances are updated. I'm positive i'll be back in the Detroit area in the near future and this is where i'll rest my head at night.

I've now stayed at this hotel twice for almost a month both times. It is a great hotel, and the staff is A+ everyone always has a smile on there face, and care about each person staying at the hotel. I'd recommend this hotel to friends and family. I travel about 95% of the time and when I come to Michigan again this is were I'll stay.
