Everyone is super friendly. The views are breathtaking! The shops are fun and plentiful. There is a super selection of restaurants and breweries. It’s not just American fare. There are all types of foods to choose from & the breweries are great! There is great history & standing buildings & other pieces of history are here to get your imagination going. Summer or winter you will find plenty of outdoor activities & again, the views are breathtaking!

Town is quaint, clean with really cute shops and restaurants. The must see is the courthouse with its stained glass dome! Beautiful! Anatomy of a Murder was filmed partly in the courthouse. We also spent time at the coal/ore dock watching a barge being loaded--enjoyable! Staff at visitor center were very helpful and friendly.

Walking distance from beautiful Lake Superior. Lots of quaint little shops to meander through and see a little bit of the local culture and sense of humor.

Nice place to visit if touring the UP. Variety of shops and restaurants. We spent time at the coal/ore dock watching an unloading and reloading— not something you can see everywhere. Very dog friendly area.

I am fortunate enough to live on the east side of Marquette near the lake (or mini ocean). Some thoughts for people looking at visiting:
1. Pretty much the whole town is walkable. There are some hills if you have physical challenges but otherwise you can avoid driving around if you stay anywhere downtown (hotel or STR)
2. There are tons of choices for food and drink. Pretty much every style of food - American, Italian, Asian, Seafood, Mexican, Cajun Creole and so on. All price points. All within walking distance of each other.
3. 3 breweries, 5 minute walk or 10 minute stumble from each other. Each has a totally different vibe and styles of beer. The Vierling also has food, the others have food trucks many nights. Many nights there is music at Blackrocks and / or Ore Dock.
4. Access to bike trails. Whether you want to hit a paved trail on a cruiser bike or ride up a “mountain”, it’s all there and easily accessed.
5. Marquette is a very safe town to walk around anytime. Whether you are a group of people or a single female, you will have no trouble in our town unless you really look for it.
6. We are happy to see you come, and will joke that we’re also happy to see you leave! We enjoy the small town environment we have, and while we are a growing community we do have a little remorse of growth causing identity loss. Don’t hold it against us, we’re just stubbornly evolving with the town!

There are also some really awesome things to see and visit in Negaunee and Ishpeming as well as Big Bay. Take a little time to visit those downtowns for a pizza at Tino’s or the Congress, a beer at Cognition Brewery or lunch at the Thunder Bay Inn where the movie Anatomy of a Murder was filmed.

We invite you to enjoy our area, be respectful and we’ll even want you to come back!
