We took advantage of the Groupon & felt that we got a fair deal for the price we paid. The staff was very friendly & the fresh-baked cookies every night was a nice welcome. The room was clean & neat. The view was beautiful & the fireplace in the room was wonderful, but those wouldn't be enough for us to come back. We had the misfortune of getting a room right outside of the breakfast area/reception desk & weren't able to sleep because of all of the noise. The walls are very thin so you can hear the people around you, which is extremely awkward. The bed was definitely in need of replacing. Overall it was an average hotel & wasn't a terrible experience, but the cons of staying at the Weathervane Inn unfortunately outweigh the pros & I don't think we'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Corner room on the second floor is a must

Maybe our expectations were too high.
This is an old building, and while that adds to its character and charm, it is still just that - an old building.
Attention to detail is not a priority. Paint was scraped off in many places in our room, including near the ceiling. (We couldn't figure this one out.) Several blinds were broken off and were dirty. The couch and carpet had large dark stains on them. The convection oven - with a microwave balanced on top of it - and small refrigerator are on the floor underneath the sink, which was inconvenient. (The shower and toilet are in a seperate room - the sink is outside in the main room.) It didn't feel clean, just old.
The room was a nice size, although be aware that the spa tub takes up a big corner of the room. Walls are thin - the room next door watched infomercials until 1:30am.
Two desk clerks were quite perfunctory.
So what did we like? The balcony was a nice place to sit, although a little awkward with the next door neighbors out as well. The view of the boats and the water was peaceful. Breakfast was adequate with cereal, muffins, juice, waffles, yogurt, bananas, and granola bars. Coffee is always available, and in the evening there were freshly baked cookies. The cleaning ladies were friendly and helpful.
The Hart-Montague bike trail is very nice. One day we rode the trail south through Whitehall towards Muskegon and found brand new pavement and a great ride.
Would we stay at Weathervane Inn again? Maybe, but not likely.

Thank you for your feedback on your stay at our hotel. I am the new property manager and take all of the comments that we get to heart. In the last few months, we have upgraded all of our bedding and deck furniture. To more of your point, we are putting together the final details for a small renovation to occur in the next 6 months. We will be painting the guestrooms, upgrading the beds and adding all flat screen TV's. The building is about 11 years old and does need some attention to detail. We are committed to doing that and making The Weathervane Inn a great place to stay.

We found our room and the property to be in excellent condition. the staff were friendly and helpful. the room was large. We didn't use the in room jacuzzi but when we got there, the bottle of champagne and (faux) rose petals around it was a nice welcome. Our bed was comfortable and our only complaint was some noisy children above us early one morning.

The view from our deck was beautiful and the surrounding area offered a lot of beautiful scenery.

We used a Groupon for our stay in October, and were very pleased. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was not the comfiest, but not too bad. We had reserved a non-lakeview room, as that was the only one available, and they indicated they'd put us on a waiting list for a lakeview room and give us a call. They didn't call, but when I inquired at check-in if one was available, they had one, so we got moved to lakeview. The view was more of the marina & boats, but still very nice. Our room was right outside the reception desk where they also served continental breakfast so it got a little noisy around breakfast time. The breakfast had a lot of items. Staff was nice. Hart-Montague bike trail was right outside the door and we enjoyed a few good bike rides on the very nice trail. Would stay again.

Our family of four spent a few nights here and would recommend it to anyone. This place is centrally located between Hart/Silver Lake and Muskegon and is right on the Hart-Montague Trail. We couldn't find bike rental in the area. (The website is wrong - they do not rent bikes on site and the place they recommended didn't bother to call us back.) But we brought our own and had a blast. This is a really fun place and we plan to be back if we need to stay in the area.

Room Tip: No elevator on site. You'll want a corner room if you can get it.

Thanks to the staff for making our stay enjoyable, everyone was friendly and helpful. We almost didn't stay due to other comments but after asking were told that the beds had been replaced and we found the bed in our room to be perfect. Glad we called and checked. Can't wait to return for a longer stay.

All the B&Bs were booked for an anniversary weekend trip, so I booked a corner queen room. All the staff were gracious and helpful, the contenental breakfast was well laid out with a good variety of choices, quiet hours from 11PM to 7AM, the room was clean and pleasant, the view was great out over White Lake, this is a very convenient location for using the bike trail, walking around Montague and Whitehall and easy to find. We were there on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. It was quiet and peaceful.

Room Tip: Ask if second floor rooms, especially the corner queen, are available
