we booked sobek hotel in the last minute as we got delayed in cairo and didnt reach to fayoum until 3 am. this is a very traditional place so expect village style rooms. the room was clean but it didnt have any of the amenities which we are used to. the view and the whole place was excellent and picturesque and the family who owns the place were very friendly. the mother cooks and wow her food is great. i am not used to this style of accommodation so i would sleep somewhere else but i will definitely visit the family and eat here again.

Room Tip: choose a room on the top floor

Classic country-side setting, egyptian delicious food ( you have to try the pigeon, duck, egyptian molokheya)
Sobek is located in Tunis village with a beautiful scenery of agricultural fields
Sobek is a nice place to have breakfast or lunch.

I never understood people who treat their guest in a trashy way!!!
That was the worst service I ever had. This Guy "blond Egyptian Manager" has zero respect for his guest.
We ordered food, then we tried to order some drinks, it took them an hour to get us the first round of drinks, then we asked for another round of drinks, but they did not get it, after we even reminded them twice!! we decided to leave, we asked why the drinks weren't served, they answered in a cold way "we forgot"

Don't go there

If you love to try new dishes, Sobek has the best duck in town. Al Fayyum is known for raising ducks and it is very common to eat ducks in Egypt. I have recently tried their duck dish their and it was just like no other. It comes as a set dish with rice, salad and molokheya which is a kind of vegetable soup that could be eaten with bread or poured over your rice. The view was amazing looking over the fields with palm trees and very relaxing. I haven't stayed in their lodge yet but will definitely do that next time I'm in town.
