Badplaas A Forever Resort
Reviewed 9 November 2013

The resort is out of town without traffic bothering you. The facilities is 5 star. If you can get a camping spot on the edge of the resort you have the most beautiful view of the reserve on your doorstep. The mountain surroundings and the sunset is breath taking. The activities is never ending from warm swimming pools, horse back riding, go carts, put put, paint balls, 4x4 trails, hiking trails and restaurants, hydra spa, etc Clean ablution make this a must go resort.

We have been to both Warm Baths and Badplaas, which are both "Forever Resorts" - Warm Baths was just that much better.

Distance wise from Johannesburg they both felt the same, I feel that while Warm Baths had loads of school kids during the week days, Badplaas didn't have that problem.

Facilities are nicer at Warm Baths, but are certainly not bad at Badplaas by any means. We just preferred Warm Baths.

The resort and water activities are great for families. Unfortunately the accomodation is still a bit outdated and needs some urgent revamping (they still have seperate cold and hot water taps in a bath basin with lots of mould). Service could also be a bit better.

Room Tip: Choose the log cabins or upgraded chalets, not rondavels

We camped at Forever Resort Badplaas. It was our first time there. The campsite is well managed and the ablutions are first class. Our children had an absolutely great time. Campers....beware....the ground is extremely hard and tent pegs are hammered in with great difficulty. The pool area is pleasant but really needs a revamp. I would really recommend that Forever Resorts consider upgrading the water park. Take a look at what Sun International have done at their Wild Coast Sun Resort. That said, this resort offers great entertainment value send there are plenty of things to do, from tennis to mashe golf, to viewing game.

For what it is, I find Forever Resorts to be one of the MOST EXPENSIVE places to stay. For what you get, it seems exorbitant: Our chalet was a bit threadbare, half the facilities weren't working, the reception staff seemed disinterested, the ice-cream parlour is covered in bars.... it could do with A LOT of investment.

It of course doesn't help that booking was such a mission. They still use faxes (There's me traipsing to the science museum to find one) I had to contact them numerous times to confirm my booking... if I wasn't adament to relive a childhood memory I wouldn't given up far sooner than I did.

This was a return visit - we were here exactly a year ago - the resort is very good value for money A 2 sleeper chalet was about R700 - the chalet is self catering but we didn't have any food so we used the restaurant for dinner and hydro for breakfast which was perfectly okay but nothing really that exciting (food wise).
The main attraction for us are the hot pools - there is a warm outdoor pool which is lovely for a sunny morning or a warm day and the indoor pools at the hydro are R10 entrance each. the hydro provides 1 cold 2 warm and 1 very hot pool it is spotless clean and the ultimate chill out place.
We were here a year ago and I have been dreaming about going back all through winter. The chalets are really small but have nice big baths and tv really everything you need even 4 black kittens that came to visit.

Room Tip: Chalets 1- 10 are close to the hot pool and the hydro

Badplaas is a very pleasant resort. The accommodation is comfortable and clean, if somewhat old and tired. I believe they are doing renovations to some of the self-catering places. The warm pools are great and mean that you can swim in the chilly months of winter. The slides are fun for kids and there are lots of activities for the whole family.
