“Wonderful host, pleasant spaces”
Reviewed 11 April 2014

We loved our stay with the friendly and hospitable family who own Krishna's House. The homestay has several rooms, so we had the chance to interact with other guests from various places around the world. Ajaya, his father Kedar, wife Sunita, son Aditya, and daughter Maiya were thoughtful and helpful beyond all measure. It was a major festival time (April 9-18) in Bhaktapur, and the family was busy with renovations and preparations. Yet, each one found the time to help us with our needs and requests. They helped us set up a very nice stay at Nagarkot and a great 20 km hike from there to the world heritage temple at Changu Narayan. We encourage you to ask for Sambar Lama as a trail guide as he took us through meandering paths and through small villages well off the tourist trail. Each day of our week in Bhaktapur, we saw amazing cultural sights and sites: sacrifices, celebrations with living gods, cremation ceremonies, chariot tug-of-wars. Ajaya and his father helped interpret what we had seen. The facilities are great, very comfortable rooms, beds, and nice common space and library. The breakfast is fresh and substantial! We highly recommend this homestay.

Room Tip: We stayed in their newest room in the main house and in one upstairs adjacent to the main house. Bo...

I had a two day stay at Krishna House and it was wonderful! Ajay was a fount of information not only about Bhaktapur but also about the surrounding areas and just about anything Nepal. The room was spacious and clean, and was located just off a very nice balcony where I liked to sit at the end of the day to journal. The guest house is located about a 10 minute walk from the main gate to Darbur Square, and is only a few minutes from the public bus area. Ajay arranged transportation for me to visit Changu Narayan, which I'm so appreciative that he recommended as this was one of the highlights of my trip.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay with Ajay. The room was bright and clean, while the lovely House is situated in a convenient location about 15-minutes walk from the main square.

Ajay was a wealth of knowledge and a charming host - I highly recommend a stay at this gem.

Ajay was very kind, honest and made sure we were informed about Bhakitpur. The breakfast was good. Staying here made us feel very comfortable about staying Bhaktipur and solidified our opinion that Nepalese people are some of the friendliest people we have met in our travels.

This week we stayed at Krishnas House and had a wonderful time. Our host Ajay and his family really made us feel at home with their hospitality and kindness. Ajay has a wealth of knowledge and is very happy to share this. The breakfast was good and I liked that the accommodation is outside the ancient city with some garden and space around it. Its only a 5 minute walk to the main gates of the city. As the hot water is solar try to have a hot shower later in the afternoon before the sun sets. Highly recommended

We stayed at Krishna's house for 3 nights before the 10 days strike and election took place. The host Ajaya has been in the tourism industry for years and is very knowledgeable about the country. He helped us to make plans so that not only we had a thorough tour of Bhaktapur, but he also arranged a wonderful one day trip to Dhulikhel, Panauti and Namo Buddha. After we left his place for Nagarkot, He suggested that we took the 16 km walk from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan, and he would send the driver to pick us up at Changu. The walk turned out to be our fondest memory of Nepal. Last but not the least, he arranged air tickets for us to Pokhara in the last minute before we left for Kathmandu the day(SUNDAY!) before the strike.!

Thank you so very very much Ajaya and family for your amazing hospitality and helpful advices, We really had a great time in Nepal and will definitely come back to visit you again soon!
