We stayed at the Chaaya Blu for 3 nights, the beach is just a few steps away and it is beautiful and clean. Our room was on the first floor with a view to the pool and we liked the fact that we could walk easily from the room to the pool. The pool was awesome, except for too many crows but it is easily forgotten with the overall beauty of the place. The sports attractions are very expensive! such as the jetski was priced at 50,000 Sri Lankan Ruppies for 15 minutes, the hotel restaurant are very pricey too. I would suggest to eat outside. We walked a few meters along the beach and found this really cool place called Fernando's Bar, where the food is affordable and really good. We ordered some sea food and it was amazing.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the first floor so you can have the pool within steps from your room!

Stayed for 2 days. Room was nice and clean, bed and facilities quite good and comfortable.

But the restaurent was dissapointing!

As is usual the half board rate included 2 meals, of which I chose breakfast and dinner. Both meals were very dissapointing.

Breakfast was quite underpar, offering sri lankan and western breakfast if which I had the latter. The quality of the food, particularly tastewise was very dissapointing. The spread of choices for the given price was completely inadequate 1 variety of cold meats left over from previous nights dinner, sausages no bacon, scrambled eggs with 1action station offering omlette, backed beans and potatoes, cornflakes with milk, that was it...

Dinner had a better spread, but I foind it completely tasteless and a mediocre attempt by amatures not chefs.

All in all less expensive places offer better simpler but tasty meals, particularly on the roadside.

One plus point, the cocktails at the bar was very good, and the barman quite knowledgeable.

I had stayed at this beach resort before but since the civil war has ended this are has become more accessible and safer for tourists and the hotel has adapted to that new market. Refurbishment has delivered some very modern facilities but still retained the old original charm of this open-plan hotel. I stayed, as before, in one of the old chalets just 20 metres from the sea and actually on the beach. The rooms are well-appointed and, with a reminder of the 2006 tsunami, have life-jackets in each room. If staying in one of these rooms beware of the arch above the bed, which is painted the same colour as the surrounding walls, as I smashed my head very badly, on two occasions, and reacted badly to the initial injury. By European standards the drinks and laundry are cheap but, having a captive package-group clientele the prices were higher than for comparable hotels in Colombo. Trinco is an undoubtedly beautiful place to visit and stay and I would willingly return to this hotel if I had cause to visit Trinco again.

Welcomed by the staff , our cottege was located in front of the ocean , and seems to be okay , the balcony wasn't cleaned for a long time and had lot of dirt , though the beach was wonderful , the beach strip belongs to the hotel was not properly cleaned , lot of stray dogs here and there in the vicinity of the hotel , the food was average and the service staff was doing their best to keep the guests happy , was there for two days and don't have best of memories.

Room Tip: try to get a clean room in front of the ocean.

Excellent spot, just on a white sand beach, good service, they give you the beach towels, come with beverage, personnel is cool and helpful.
The room was clean and nice, internet in it (no need to go to the lobby), food was great, breakfast buffet huge and well supplied.

Misunderstanding on the room price though: I reserved for 2 nights, with a price guarantee of 116 USD per night. At the end of my stay, I was billed 145 USD per night. Again I checked it out too late to have it amended, but I resented a bit being overpriced of 30 USD per night.
My advice: Take care when you pay with a price guarantee.
