Having wandered around Khiva all morning and keeping inevitably returning to its centre (the town is so small), I found myself by Farrukh restaurant, which is located right on Pahlavon Mahmood, at about lunchtime. Although I’m usually cautious about restaurants in the touristy centers, I decided to give it a try.
After busy Old Town crowded with tourists’ hordes, I was charmed by its quiet courtyard. There was no one else there, which contributed to a truly relaxing atmosphere. There are lots of traditional colours used in interior décor and table layout, so the place looks very authentic.
You can choose between sitting at a table and getting yourself cozy on the sofas akin to oriental Tachte. I opted for the latter.
The service was fast, and soon I was having my tea shortly followed by salad and pilaf. Can’t say it was somehow remarkable, but good enough. The bill was moderate.
Surprisingly, there was some typical souvenir staff available for sale right there in the restaurant.
Nicely located in the very heart of Ichan Qala (Khiva Old Town), Farrukh offered good enough food and relaxing atmosphere – all that was needed in between of an active city exploring.
