I came across this place by pure accident due to having the great idea of camping in the area and then realizing how horrible the mosquitos were once we got there and it stormed pretty bad the first night so we needed a place that would accept a 90# dog while visiting this beautiful town and area! Very comfortable and welcoming service! Just what we needed, and would 100% recommend and go back!

It's not horrible, but the bathroom is pretty bad. The door opened to the sink, which created a hole in the door as it based into the edge of the sink. Weird yellow lighting, old worn out fixtures, the housekeeping does the best they can to keep it clean, but it really needs renovation. The road it's on is a side street which is parallel to a major road (and maybe 20ft from it), so it can be noisy at times.
Could use new carpet, better mattress pads, more pillows.
The building is not level.
Has potential to be better, and a good value if you aren't concerned with the above items.

Room Tip: Upper floor might be quieter, ask for an end room, away from stair door. Some rooms are more recent...

My husband and I stayed here and were content with our stay. We are pretty simple travelers and are not too picky because we do not spend too much time in our room. The room was located in a great location to access restaurants and shops within walking distance, but was located near a busy road which may bother some. We were not bothered by the traffic noise however and slept very well in the comfortable king size bed. The rooms are a bit outdated, but definitely clean. The front desk staff and owner were very nice and informative about the area. The bathroom is small and not easy to get ready in. I did my makeup at the little table in the room near the window, because the overall room lighting was lacking. I wish there would have been a lamp near the bedroom mirror to get ready. I also would recommend they get the curved shower rods to make the shower/tub feel larger. There was a microwave and fridge which was great to have. Our only complaint was our bathroom sink. The drain stopper was stuck in the down position and would not go up. We informed the owner and she said she would have her husband look at it. That was day 1, by day 3 it still was not fixed. We informed the housekeeper and said she would let the owners know. By check out it, it still had not been fixed. We brushed our teeth and washed our hands in the tub. We made the decision to not complain again as it probably would not have helped or we would of have to move rooms, which we were not interested in doing. Hopefully the owners will read this and make some changes. The parking lot is not large, so if you have a boat or trailer I am not sure where you would park. Overall, with the exception of the sink, we would try this place again. The price was right for the area, the bed was comfortable and clean and the location was good. I just hope that lack of communication between the staff and owners' husband can be corrected.

I agree with comments regarding the bathroom - shower stall needs at least a small shelf for toiletries and maybe a shelf by the sink. Extra soap and shampoo for the shower would be nice, however, many mom & pops do not have hair dryers, so I always bring my own. The curtains do need replacing. Otherwise the room was fine. Our king bed was fairly comfortable and I slept well despite being right next to the highway. The price was fine for summertime - much lower than the Econolodge next door. The front desk person was friendly and helpful.

We had stayed here in the past prior to the "remodeling." What has changed? Outside appears to have new siding, new outside doors, room has faux wood flooring in the bathroom & part of the sleeping area, & bathrooms have been redone. However, the carpet was old & stained. Curtains would not close completely & the rubber backings had holes in it. Whoever recommended the remodeling of the bathroom were not thinking of a motel room....no where to place toiletries, shower had no shelf to place soap/shampoo/washcloth. Old 19" TV. The place smelled incredibly musty! Old AC/heater was loud & only seemed to increase the musty odor. No hair dryer, shampoos, one 1/2 filled roll of toilet paper. Of course, with remodeling comes a higher price...$89.59! NOT worth the price at all! We love the Munising area, but next time we will stay at a different motel close to town. BTW - the place is once again for sale.

Room Tip: All face the highway. If on the 1st floor, will be disturbed by 2nd floor residents clomping around...

We tried to book something kind of last minute during 'high season' in the UP, and didn't have any luck with traditional sites. My sister lives in Munising and suggested a locally owned place that might not show up on other sites. We called, asked for an overnight stay, with two dogs, and got a very friendly, accommodating response. We also asked for a late night check in, and (as a small town girl), got the perfect reply: "here's your room number, and we'll make sure everything is ok, and leave the door open with the light on. don't worry about checking in -- we'll take care of that the next morning". gotta love small towns. it's not fancy, but clean and perfect for a place to spend the night. most everything in Munising is within walking distance (except the waterfalls, and best smoked fish place, and maybe even indulging in pasties). I like staying in places that are not state/national chains. if you do, find something else, but this is just fine with me.

Room Tip: two floors. upstairs rooms need to go through the office/main floor inside to the second floor, but...
