“A good quality hostel”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

We stayed in a private room with bathroom which was clean and well-maintained. The hostel itself was also very clean with a nice little pool. The reception staff were polite and helpful at all times. The hostel is well located for the centre of Leon.

The only issue was the frustratingly slow internet but the internet in Nicaragua is not as good as that in Europe and the hostel cannot be blamed for this and there was no extra charge for using it which was an added bonus.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lazybones. The rooms are simple, but they do the trick for budget travellers. Breakfast is included en pretty good. The pool is small, but very welcome in a city as hot as León. The atmosphere in the hostel is nice, with a lot of spots to relax. The location is rather centrical (although León is not that big anyhow). Don't miss the great restaurant/cocktail bar at the other side of the street: it offers good food, nice cocktails and a beautiful garden terrace.

Stayed on 2 separate occasions during my trip to Nicaragua. Found the private rooms and the dorms to be very spacious and clean and also very quiet. Great spaces to chill out with hammocks and a good pool table. Also the pool is nice and refreshing. We went volcano boarding with the hostel twice which was great fun. The staff at the hostel are very accommodating and helped us arrange travel to Antigua direct from leon, as well as all of our travels in Nicaragua. They also gave me a free t-shirt!

Last year I stayed at La Tortuga Boolooda (which I liked a lot) but had heard such great things about Lazybones (particuarly the pool) I decided to give it a whirl this year.

I stayed with a friend for 5 nights.

PROS:
- Really great breakfast and free coffee.
- Cool atmosphere, nice common area.
- Internet worked great the entire time.
- Lots of rooms, but felt very secure.
- Nice pool.
- Staff very friendly and helpful.

CONS:
If the following two issues were fixed I would give Lazybones 5 stars instead of 4.
- Some of the windows in our room did not have screens. So there were many bugs in the room, making it hard to sleep.
- The floor is *very* slippery when wet, and it's always wet because of the pool. I fell down the second morning I was there and scraped my knee. Another girl busted her toe a different day.

Room Tip: Beware the rooms at the top of the spiral staircase, where there's no bathroom. The staircase is...

This good located hostal is definately worth a stay. The staff is really friendly and there is 24 hours service. The bathrooms and toilets are really clean. Not like other hostels where they only empty the bin once a day.
The really big plu of this hostal is the swimmingpool. It is a must in a city this hot. The only negative point are th rally hot rooms. Mak sure you hav enough fans in your room or dorm before you pick the room.

Room Tip: Pick your room based on the amount of fans

This hostel is a real hostel. With many many rooms and dorms, but also a few private rooms with shared or private bathroom. We had a room upstairs, there are 3 private rooms upstairs. The benefit is that it is very quiet and a bit more cool than downstairs. Disadvantage is that you have to walk the stairs to go to the toilet or to brush your teeth. The shared bathrooms are very very clean, I think they are cleaned every 2 hours or so: everytime I went to the toilet it was cleaned again :)
The pool is small, but refreshing. The time we visited LazyBones, there were just a few other guests. I think when the hostel is full it could be crowded in the pool.
PC's are very slow, but who is there to use a PC?
There was no mirror in the room, maybe something to add by the hosts? Same with chairs on the balcony, there is just one chair and one hammock, but space enough for another hammock of rocking chair. Would be nice!
The rooms are dark, yes, but that's nice to sleep :) The fan is good. There are no musquitos, so you can leave the 'windows' opened.
Location is very good, just few minutes walk to centre of Leon.
Breakfast is very cheap and very good, especially the huge pancakes with fresh fruit!
I think this is the best value-for-money option in town.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs are the best if you want to have a private double room: quiet, cooler and a nice balc...
