On 2/10/2012 my cruise ship docked in Corinto, Nicaragua. A motor coach tour took us to the town of Leon where I was introduced to "El Sesteo Restaurant". Located very close to the cathedral in Leon it was a pleasant break from all of the walking on the tour. The restaurant is affiliated with the nearby "Hotel San Juan de Leon" and the "Hotel la Posada del Doctor". "El Sesteo Restaurant" opens to the central square of Colonial Leon. Leon is famous for it's colonial style buildings. The restaurant is very colorful. The chairs are all of wood painted a bright red while the interior walls are mostly a cheddar cheese color with avocado green trim. A bright red sun is painted on the ceiling amongst many ceiling fans. Sadly they had no tamarindo to drink but Coca Cola in a bottle was available like it is in most of Central America.

My friend and I enjoyed a lunch consisting of a large salad that we shared and a sandwich each. Everything was freshly prepared and tasty. We also enjoyed their refreshing lemonade. Later in the week, we had an early dinner here and we each ordered a beef dish. The beef was excellent, though the dishes themselves were not extraordinary.
The restaurant has an unusually good selection of red wines.
The location is great for soaking up some local culture as it sits on a corner facing the cathedral and central park.
