“Relaxed little place in town with great food”
Review of Cafetin Don Jacks

Cafetin Don Jacks
Ranked #28 of 97 Restaurants in Leon
Cuisines: International
Description: We had a really good dinner at this restaurant last night and would like to review it on trip advisor. The owner, Jack, is canadian and has 25 years experience as a chef, and has lived in leon for 9 years. Menu was eclectic international food, including typical Nicaraguan, and we enjoyed probably the best meal we have had during our 3 months in Central America. Leon does not have regular addresses and 'Fte Clinica Mercedes' is their postal address! Please list so as I may review. Thanks.

Don Jacks is a little restaurant opposite of Pan y Paz and offers realy delicious food for a very good price. The burgers are great and for 4-5 Dollars you get a real good burger with handmade fries. The owner Jack is from Canada and prepares every meal fresh. He and his wife are great hosts! I nearly go there every week and everytime I do enjoy the food and the atmosphere!

“A real experience”
Reviewed 24 February 2014 via mobile

Inexpensive, laid back, and fun. Jack is quite a character, who serves very good food. Our experience began when jack said he didn't want to make onion rings ("because they're a pain in the ****") but everything he made was fresh and excellent (and huge).

Not fine dining, but very good cheap and fun!

“worth the effort to find”
Reviewed 26 January 2014

I knew about this place before visiting Leon, and planned to enjoy a meal at Jack's during our few days in the city.

While out exploring one afternoon, I met Jack on the sidewalk in front of his restaurant. Told him I'd return with my wife the next night for dinner.

We came for dinner and Jack welcomed us. We ordered from the menu and Jack came out from the kitchen to give us some suggestions, which we took. The food was great, the atmosphere welcoming, and service attentive. We had shrimp dishes, one Asian and one curry. Also a great banana cake with cream frosting for dessert.

Only wish we'd have been able to return and visit with Jack at his invitation the following afternoon before he gets busy with dinner. Alas, we were bound for the beach...

Until next time, because we will return.

“A great place to eat in Leon”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

I just had my first experience at Cafetin. Jack is a great host and cooks up a great meal. I had the curry with coconut milk served with grilled Pacific mackerel and a tossed salad on the side. Rice and tortillas completed the dish. The food, the company, and the casual dining atmosphere (complete with pool table} made for a nice time. I'll be back there soon.

“A true Leon star”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

When we first walked in to the empty 5-table establishment with heart-felt 80's music playing and eclectic decor, we weren't sure if we would be staying for dinner. But, our curiosity got the better of us, and we stayed, ordered curry, played pool, and enjoyed the cold beer. When Jack, a bandana wearing, pirate-looking, Canadian strolled in to personally grill our fish and talk with us, we were thrilled. When the food came out, and we started eating, we were head-over-heals in love with Cafetin Don Jacks. We promised Jack we would return, if anything just to talk with such a nice and interesting man. Overall, great company, great atmosphere, and amazing food in a quiet & hidden corner of central Leon. You don't want to miss out!
