We really enjoyed our 4 night stay here. Quite clean and plenty of room. Cooked many of our meals in the outdoor kitchen. Rigo and Marthe are a joy and very helpful. Marthe took us out to Barrilete one of her pet projects. This is an after school program for teens and school and care center for the little ones. Maria the controller at Barrilete is full time volunteer and amazing woman that could really use more support. If you want to be apart of something great Marthe will let you know how you can help. Rigo and Marthe are involved in helping a lot of people and places, check out their web site at: http://journeynicaragua.org/
There are great museums and art galleries just a block down the street.
Highly recommend staying here!

I stayed in Calle de los poetas for five nights and had a great stay! Rigo and Marthe are very inviting and helpfull people, who are able to make you feel at home. The rooms are spacious with good possibilities to store your stuff. I even had a desk! The bathroom is clean. Rigo gave me some very usefull tips and is always willing to help out. Of course it helps that León is a beautiful city with lots to explore, but staying in Calle de los Poetas made my stay here wonderful. Besides, the beach is not very far and they have a lodge there too. The hostel has a big kitchen by the way and enough space in the shared area, with swinging chairs, a hammock and a fine table to work at. All over the place looks very nicely decorated. In short, the best place to stay and to relax!

Spent eight nights here with Rigo and Marthe at Calle de los Poetas. Close to the centre, but an oasis of calm, ideal for people who want a siesta in the afternoon, like me. Rigo and Marthe are terrific hosts who know the country well. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. They can fix up tours for you and point you in the right direction for adventure or just places to hang out. Highly recommended.

Rigo the owner is the coolest person we've met on our trip in Nicaragua. The hostel is clean, relaxing, comfortable, but the hospitality of the staffs is what make this place a special one. Rigo arranged rides to the supermarket, the nearby beach, lent us ammenities, let us use their kitchen, even delivered the sneakers that I accidently left behind at the hostel to managua on his way to another destination. tons of books to read at the hostel for spare time.

The owner and his girlfreind could not have been more helpful. Situated a short walk from the bustling centre of Leon with its shops, sites and restaurants. This is a secure and comfortable small hotel. Book ahead to be certain of a room. To top it all the room price is very reasonable.

Room Tip: All rooms have a fan and lead on to a communal garden and covered sitting area with books and televi...

Although we were only able to stay one night, as we came on speck and Rigo, the owner, was already fully booked for the following night, he rang around and found us somewhere for the next night. He also sorted out some medicines for my husband's ailments and drove us to the other hotel the next day. He couldn't have been more helpful. He and Marta were lovely hosts (if you're ever in Devon, Rigo, the offer still stands!) and the hotel was clean and good value. We even had use of the kitchen. A great place to chill!

Room Tip: Get there early to avoid disappointment!

I've been traveling continuously for over a year and a half, and this has so far been my favorite place to stay.

We initially planned to stay for one week, but we ended up staying over two weeks. When you've got an awesome place to stay and the perfect hosts, you're not in a hurry to leave.

Where to start: Rigo and Marthe (the owners) are extremely responsive and helpful, and very laid back. Rigo is a native of León and knows all the history and places to go. He's also a guide, so he's got tons of info on trips and activities. Marthe runs the book store that operates in the front of the building.

The communal kitchen is super clean and has everything you need. Seriously--great pots and pans, knives, spatulas, etc. I've stayed in a lot of places during my travels and this has been the best kitchen by far.

If you don't want to cook, the location is right in the middle of everything in León, and we walked the entire way across the town several times in our two weeks there. Otherwise, you can catch a taxi in about 10 seconds at any time you'd like. Various bars, coffee shops, and stores are within 2-4 blocks.

Want to head to the beach? You can easily walk a few blocks and catch the bus going to the beach, which takes about 30 minutes.

Want to hang out and chill for the night? They've got a large selection of DVDs you can borrow while you're there too.

Need to work while you're on the road? The've got two routers and the fastest, most stable wifi we found in Nicaragua.

Their two dogs are super nice and the two cats are quite lovely companions as well.

If you want a relaxing, quiet place to stay in León, I can't recommend Hostal Calle de los Poetas highly enough.

Room Tip: There are 3 guest rooms. One has a private bath and the other two share a bath. All rooms are situat...
