i really was not expecting much. honestly, the pasta i've had in most restaurants (even some family-owned italian ones in the states) has been over-priced and rather disappointing. generally, i make a better pasta sauce than what i've found in restaurants. that said, this pasta sauce was really good! though i don't remember the names of what we ordered, they were both vegetarian options, served on penne, and they were both delightfully complex in flavor. if we were still in town, we'd certainly go back!

The lasagne that took an hour and ten minutes to arrive tasted like it was made from a box kit and the pannini tasted like deviled ham from a can on a hot dog bun.

Friends, when you walk into an Italian restaurant in Nicaragua you're begging for disappointment. Might I just say that that this gem will exceed your expectations. I got the pasta bolognese. The rigatoni was cooked perfectly (slightly al dente), and the sauce was fabulous. My husband got the lasagna, which was not exactly how you would get it in the states, but he loved it. (I tried it and it was good. While there, we noticed how many locals were coming in to get baked goods (pastries and cakes) to take out. We ended our meal with a pastry and probably the best cappuccino and coffee we've had in Nicaragua. Friendly and prompt service and in a beautiful historic building as well. Great atmosphere. A real find!!!!
