Very attractive public rooms, nice pool, good breakfast, comfortable bed, effective AC. But only one set of towels, one robe in room for two people. Had to request those and more toilet paper. Shower water pressure provided a trickle. No hooks or hair dryer in bathroom. Was promised two qeen beds but got a qeen and a twin roll-away. Is this really the #1 hotel in Leon?

A nice hotel with a beautiful courtyard in the center. Very friendly staff. The food was not great, but certainly good, and recommended. Breakfast was provided every day with plenty of options. The room was just okay, but the A/C worked, and the bed was comfortable enough. I would definitely stay here again if I were in Leon.

This hotel is right in the heart of the city but not in a noisy area. Leon is a fine little colonial city, it is a college city so lots of students. The room we had didn't have windows but had great AC/Fan but I kind of like a window. There are nice patios to read books and to chill out. Bathrooms were clean and there is hot water. This and the Convento are the two nicest hotels in town. Breakfast was about $2 US.

Room Tip: Although our room had no windows it was quiet. Ask for a room not on the street with a window, they...

We just had breakfast here and did not stay but it was beautiful and the service was fantastic and friendly.

Right in the heart of Leon. Well restored colonial hotel with a pretty pool.

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful but not well-informed.

a lovely historic building with a lot of character that could be much nicer. The manager was very nice, but the rest of the staff were pretty clueless. Breakfast was decent and in the pretty courtyard, but service is incredibly slow and inefficient. Lunch in the restaurant was just bad. It's a good location and seems to the best of the lot in Leon - but that doesn't make it great. Get rid of the stained carpeting in the rooms and put SOMETHING on the bare white walls! Everything could just be much nicer - more furniture in the common areas and generally higher-quality everything. Go for a "suite" as they're much bigger and more pleasant. the "windowless" rooms are fine - there's a little window in the bathroom, so you can actually tell if it's day or night. Book transport or anything else through a local tour company - it'll be cheaper. It felt like it's not better than it is, because it doesn't need to be - it has little competition at the 'top end' of places in Leon.

Hotel La Perla, just one and a half block away from La Merced (Main Church) and the Parque Central (Main Square), is located in a nicely renovated property which originates from the 1850’. La Perla has a private and secure car park across the street so we didn’t have to worry about our rental SUV. The room which we had was one floor up from the ground floor and was smallish (with 2 double beds). Although the sanitary ware is not the latest – the bathroom was clean and comfortable with good water pressure (and was even equipped with a hairdryer). The large balcony which runs all in front of the rooms provides ample space and has beautiful ‘old style rocking chairs’. The only downside is that the rooms on the floor where we were had no windows (so be prepared – no daylight). My recommendation is to request for a ground floor room around the pool! We are very fortunate to have traveled extensively and have had good experiences in boutique type hotels accomodated in old buildings. I can safely say that the overall experience and service at La Perla was excellent and therefore have no hesitation to recommend you to stay at La Perla. In particular the staffs that we interacted with were all conversant in English and were extremely service minded, helpful and hospitable. I guess this is thanks to the American owner (James) who trains them well.

Room Tip: My recommendation is to request for a ground floor room around the pool!

Thank you for your kind review..One word of explanation ...four rooms in window are without window as the National Historic Government group would at allow any changes to this important historical building . Therefore, 4 rooms out of 15 rooms do not have windows. ( Many of of clients love these rooms as they are very quiet with 14" thick walls. We are also adding 8 rooms, all with windows and three with private patios.

Thanks for staying with us, Sincerely
Jim

Our party of about 20, descended on La Perla for a wedding. The hospitality was great. A gorgeous facility, clean, well managed made us feel welcome and safe. The food was excellent, the traditional Nicaraguan breakfast was always hot a delicious. They helped decorate for the wedding reception and acommodated what felt like hundreds of guests. Great food and the Mojitos are to die for.

Right in the middle of town, walkable to everything. Highly recommended.
